The mod 2 and 3 doors are different from the mod 1.
The mod 1 has an extra angle at the bottom the 2/3 doesn't have.
Don't know about avid doors tho.

Early Avid and Kitfox doors interchangeable?
Found a guy looking for a set of Kitfox 1-3 doors. Anyone know if these B model Avid doors I have would work for him?

TJay this just came up recently. Anyone know what to search for to find the thread? I believe what you described was basically the fix. Try typing fuel tank or capstrip key words into the search.

    Fuel tank question
Got my kitfox tanks today, gotta say they look really nice, question is the tank sticks above the 1 and 3 rib between an 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch, should I just add an 3/16 of an inch to the 1 and 3 rib capstrip and feather it out at the leading edge and trailing edge of the wing, do you think that would affect anything, have a look at the pictures and let me know.

  8. akflyer added a post in a topic artic cat 800 ,160 hp!!!

They cut the counter weights off the crank in 10 to try and make it "snappier" all it did was make it shake worse than any Harley on the road... you also have to run premium. At 7800 rpm it's 140 hp, but I was going to limit it to 6800 rpm and run it like a 582. You have to have the ccu and ecu to make it run. I was going to put the Arctic cat spedo unit in the dash so I could see any trouble codes and use the rpm function on it as well.

  9. C5Engineer added a post in a topic FS: Motor Mount, Spinners, Oil tank, Radiator, Fuselage

TJay the radiator is square in shape and was set up for a B model side radiator. It wouldn't work for a belly radiator if that's what you were after.

Just to update this thread the Rotary Valve reservoir and tailwheel are gone. The MK4 spinner is spoken for as well as the sling seat, gear, wheels, brakes, turtledeck, and tail feathers. I'm still looking to move the B model cowl, engine mount, radiator, and firewall as well as the whole fuse which will include all the controls. See my ad on barnstormers for more details on that.

    Robert,
Wife got low on red cells and iron - she had to get 2 units (like about 1/2 pint each?) of blood - Don't have the bill yet, but bet that these 1/2 pints cost a lot more than Jim Beam.   She is doing OK now - I was hoping that with new blood, instead of cooking German sauerkraut, she would start craving Cajun or Mexican foods - I told her that Cayenne and Chillipeppers have more iron in them!

Ed, I can't check the incidence of the spars with the fabric on.  I checked it on the number 2 rib from trailing edge to the low point the level touches a few inches behind the front spar...this looks to be the thickest part of the wing too.  I got 0.2 degrees down. (minus 0.2 degrees).  This wing is nearly flat on bottom, just about 1/4 inch under camber.

Very nice!  I would love to have my Avid on floats but I have a speedwing and I don't think that would work.

  14. dav8or added a post in a topic trailing edge of flaperon

Definitely rivet! The original builder on my Avid did not rivet. They did last for a long time but the right flaperon separated on me a little over a year ago. I noticed slightly strange handling in the air, then on the ground I found a small separation of the trailing edge. I came back a day later to repair it and about 2 ft of the flaperon had separated with a gap large enough to stick my hand into. Glad that didn't happen in the air! It took me quite a bit of work to get it back together and straight again. I used squeezed rivets as they do not have the big tail that a pop rivet has.

Whichever method you go with, please remember: the Stewart's top coat system is very, very toxic. It has an extremely high iscocionate content.

A full suit and gloves with a supplied-air hood is mandatory, nt optional.

Great feedback guys.  Many thanks.  Yep, I do have the CD's from Stewart.  Watched them several times through teh covering process. Now need to do the same with the painting.  Did watch them one and see the pass speed is faster than I am used to (more like a fast fog in a way).

  19. EDMO added a post in a topic What do you think?

Just in case some of you don't know about the maker of the Artic Sparrow mixture control - Mike Jacober was a friend of mine at Birchwood Airport, Alaska - and I'm sure that Leni and Suberavid know a lot more about him than I do.  He set some altitude records in Alaska before he was killed in a crash.

    Ron,
you can always swap ends with the turnbuckle If you have room to put it by the rudder - I prefer them to the straps for better adjustment of cables.

SURVIVED THE CRASHES, and CRASHES, and CRASHES!
I'M BACK - Bad start for the New Year!
In the first 3 weeks of 2015, my phone, microwave, space heater, wife, and computer all crashed!
Replaced first 3,  and repaired the last 2.
About every 5 or 3 years I get too smart to fool with a computer - When Joey posted pdf files, I forgot that I could save them to Word, and read them - instead, I remembered that someone had told me to download "Open Office" to read them -
I downloaded "Apache Open Office" and immediately got a bunch of BAD shit with it and the puter started crashing!
Best Buy cleaned it up for me for $$$ after I spent $$$ for another computer so that my daughter could continue her college courses while I fixed my screwup.
I had all my passwords and stuff on index cards and always logged in automatically - then, my cards were gone as well as my memory of stuff like passwords to AFF and emails.
I found out that this site is veery well protected, as it took about 30 tries to even get my password back or try to log in as another newby under another name - Nothing seemed to work!
Glad to hear that so many of you missed me and my typical BS!
