    IFMT,
I never take offense when others write - even when they disagree with me - and you just made a valid suggestion.
I am thankful that I have the opportunity to talk to over 900 on this site - and I wish that more of them would join in and write something.
The older ones here can celebrate their years of learning and still learn from others, and the younger ones can look forward to more years of learning and advances of technology.
    Good Flying,

Trying to go back through all posts and reload the pdfs is a task I am not willing nor have the time to do.. when one is found, you can try to bring up to the top by replying to the topic and perhaps they can upload it. My laptop died so I lost a ton of files that I had posted.

I had this problem with some other PDF's on the site.  It was decided that an upgrade or problem in the past had damaged them.  The original poster was able to reupload them, and the worked after that.

The other plane I'm building is a Cozy MkIV, all fiberglass, including the tanks.  The general consensus of those who are building and those that have built is that EZPoxy 87 is the most fuel resistant epoxy for those planes.  I'm replacing the fabric on my Avid over the winter, and if the tank looks sketchy I'll be building a new one using that.  http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cmpages/ezpoxy.php?clickkey=5889

I dont think I have the files on my work computer, they were on my old laptop that cratered on me.  I will do some digging and see if I can find a jump drive that may possibly have the files on it and try to upload them again.

FYI guys, I finally found a pdf on the board that will open on my Mac...   Magnum Bracket Rivets.pdf  downloaded it first then just double clicked and it opened.... the way Adobe says they all should ... viola.

As you can probably surmise, my success is sometimes measured in less than earth-shaking achievements.

The tanks from Wingtanks dot com look a lot easier than most of the others. But, weight and balance will dictate using 4 tanks, 2 in each wing.
And that of course means, usable weight is going to take a hit.

Mine will be a retro-fit in a 31 year old plane that just started leaking bad enough to ground it.

Looks like none of the files marked as pdf. will open.  Adobe's latest program says the file is damaged.. or not recognized. Any chance someone could go through and change all marked as pdf. to something that works?
    thanks much

Ed, I appreciate all your post's. I look forward to reading this forum and specifically the postings of the long time members as yourself. I'm just a greenhorn compared to yourself and others on here. I didn't mean any offense. I get what you say about you only get so many days. Knowing the stakes are high every time you fly makes it interesting. Makes those special days. Cheers. B

Having the same problems as Avid Bob and rampil, none of the files will open three different Mac computers  using 3 different versions of Adobe.  Tried opening from the existing locations and downloading before opening.. same message there is Invalid or missing root object.  Best guess the files were not saved when they were uploaded to the forum and became corrupted.

    Jim,
I probably know less about floats than you or anyone else - If someone has a use for it, I have what might be part or all of the attachment mount that came with my kitfox 1 - whether it is complete or has been cut is beyond my knowledge.  I could post a photo if anyone needs it - just pay the shipping.   I also have the (pectral?) fin that goes under the tail.  I don't swim!

    AK -

I was thinking of a teaspoon of DOT added to the g/b in hopes that it would help the seal not to the injector oil.

Anyways. We're going to proceed w/the final rad, fuel and electric connections and get that out of the way which remain to be done yet.

I've added the Tiny-Tach to the procurement list.

I valued Chris's comments about running motors that had been in long term storage.  I'd like to get this puppy up and running and everything dialed in then look at pulling it down for main seal replacements.  I'm curios if the Cbox seal will stop leaking on it's on after going through the engine ground-run break-in procedure.

For Sale: Avid Flyer fiberglass floats
Hi guys,  I really don't have any use for these floats, so I'm putting them up for sale.  I don't know a whole lot about floats, I got them with a project I picked up a couple of years ago.  I did ask about them at the time on the Team Kitfox Forum, and Paul Seehaufer commented about them.  He is big into floats and Kitfoxes and Avids, and said he flew these floats for about 1000 hrs.  He thought max gross weight was 1200 lb.  max.  If anyone wants to see what he and other said about them, look for the post entitled Avid fiberglass floats questions on the Team Kitfox site.  Anyway, I have to get $1500 for them.  If necessary, I could build a crate to ship them in if I got paid for the materials, ect.  I'm in northern Mn, 60 miles NNW of Duluth, and about 80 miles S of International Falls.  I have more pics, but I'll just put up a few here now.  I have the water rudders, but not the spreader bars and mounting bars.  Thanks for looking.  218-254-two four zero four.  Jim Chuk

Unfortunately, when you get my age, your buddies are dead, dying, or in a wheelchair or nursing home - the next generation is too busy working or have moved away- My ex-mother-in-law turned 101 in August, and lost all of her friends and family years ago - My Grandmother buried her husband and all 3 of her children by the time she was 92.
My next-door neighbor helped me build my deck 10 years ago - he died last week at age of 83 after being paralyzed for the last 6 years by a stroke.
sad, but just a fact of life.  I am thankful that my flying buddy of the last 50 years is still able to help me - he is 77.
Someday, my bird, or my projects, parts, and tools will all be for sale.......We all live on limited time, and never know when that time will end.

Avid (model B) Parts for sale
Avid Model B fuselage (with intact and very nice interior, panel and some instruments, header-type fuel tank, controls, wing/flaperon folding assembly, 532 motor mount, gear and wheel assemblies), tail section and tail struts, speed wings (extensions had been added but removed but all is there), wing root tank, flaperons, custom trailer to haul it all on.
No damage history other than a minor trailering incident. That was repaired and the plane flown several hours since then.
I will sell all together or part it out, although I really don't want to sell the gear w/o the fuselage. It is too cumbersome to handle the fuselage w/o the gear.
Prices negotiable on all of it or individual pieces. Photos available upon request.
These are being offered as PARTS ONLY. There are no logs, data plate or other paperwork.
I am located in the FAR northern part of CA.
    Thanks,
    Greg
