    O field trash
Sign my Avid off to Phase II this week.  I spend the work days in the oil field delivering pipe so guess where I spent three hours flying today, yep flying over the patch.   Well it hard not to with a big part of Wyoming producing oil and more to come.

Here is a picture of the two planes I've built so far, thinkin about what to build next.

I Love You, Sweetheart...... There was a group of women gathered at a seminar on how to live in a loving relationship with your husband.

    The women were asked,

'How many of you love your husbands?'

All the women raised their hands.

    Then they were asked,

'When was the last time you told your husband you loved him?'

Some women answered today, some yesterday, some didn't remember..

The women were then told to take their cell phones and send the following

    text to their respective husband:

    "I love you, sweetheart."

Then the women were told to exchange phones and read the responding text messages.

Here are some of the replies:

    1. Eh, mother of my children, are you sick?

    2. What now? Did you crash the car again?

    3. I don't understand what you mean?

    4. What did you do now? I won't forgive you this time!!!

    5. ?!?

    6. Don't beat about the bush, just tell me how much you need?

    7. Am I dreaming? ????

    8. If you don't tell me who this message is actually for, you will die today...!!!

    9. I asked you not to drink anymore!!

    and the best one

    Crumpled Money......

A man was sitting and reading his paper when his wife enters the house, she approaches him in a most provocative manner. "Have you ever seen a twenty dollar bill all crumpled up?" asks the wife in a soft sweet voice.

Not knowing what to make of this situation he replies, "No."

Pursing her lips she gives him a sexy little smile, reaches into her cleavage and slowly pulls out a crumpled up twenty dollar bill.

Then stepping closer in she asks in a low sexy voice, "Have you ever seen a fifty all crumpled up?"

    Intrigued, he answers, "Uh, no."

She gives him another sexy little smile, seductively reaches into her panties and ever so slowly removes a crumpled fifty dollar bill.

"Now," she says as she leans down and whispers, "have you ever seen 30,000 dollars all crumpled up?"

Totally confused and excited he stammers, "No-o-o-o-o."

"Well," she whispers in his ear, "then go look in the garage..."

I tossed some short videos together from my digicam into one today. Quality isn't that good but you get the idea. Man I really need to go flying!

I dumbly and happily flew anything with wings and a tail for years - my machine work was usually on the heavy end - Then I went to AMT school, and my "education" about planes put some fear into me. Now, I have to go watch the videos of the contraptions that the aviation pioneers flew in order for me to bravely get into some of the more flimsy, light weight, flying things. I still like the Taylor / Piper proven designs - And, no, I never looked at the tail bolts of an Otter or Beaver, but I understand that they do not fall off.Keep us posted - This is interesting to me, even if I don't swim!
They have caught sharks in the Mississippi River at Alton, Illinois, 1750 miles from the ocean!

and with the current rigging I have, my rudder just clears the water as it is.  I don't really want to raise it up any more due to the pendulum affect of the floats on the plane.

I think I will do a quick sheet metal fin and see how much I need to help out the hunt and peck issue.  I dont think it will add crap for a load on the mounts.  If you see the three small bolts that holds the tail on an otter you would not worry about the loads a couple fins would put on our tails

OK - Think I finally got the message. Nose-draggers can be a pain when changing tire sizes - either the tail is down with small mains, or the tail is sky-high and the prop is down with large ones - got to plan ahead for that.Thanx,

Leni,I watched a Cessna on floats taking off, and the V-fin dragged in the water - I see what you mean - very good video with belly camera at Lake Iliamna, or Clark.

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.â€

That's what I am referring to. The 800 x 6 x 21 is basically a very light 850. A little narrower and a little taller, but much lighter.

Again I switched to Grove, wheels, brakes and gear, along with these 21" tires and the plane only gained 12#.

Joey,I had to take a second look at your photos - Did not catch that you're comparing 6 inch tires to 8 inch - Guess to go off-road I have to buy new 8 inch wheels after selling mine?
Are you comparing Desser tire with McCreary both on the 6 inch wheels, or different wheels? - How much weight difference on the 6 inch, and how much better? Sorry, I got confused. Do they make a light-weight 8.50 x 6 ?

Not limited to men. Don't you recall that old diddly that goes something like this:

    We must
    We must
    We must increase our bust
    The bigger the better
    The tighter the sweater
    The boys depend on us

    )

P.S. - well I ain't buying it Larry. Last time I saw you, you were driving a big honkin' diesel pickup... and a manual shift Cummins, if there's something to be inferred from that!?

I WASNT WORRIED about the struts - I don't like the flimsy, weak main attach for the HS. You could probably stand on my HS and not break the attachment. Undoubtedly overbuilt, but you could do something lighter and still be stronger than the original.ED

I think my design borrowed from Piper / Maule is about the strongest HS attachment you could get - Check out the Foxy Flapper Fotos in Kitfox IV.

I am thinking larger struts and cutting out the existing bolt bosses and using 1/4 bolts.  What you are really talking about here is the shear strength and the 3/16" should be plenty, but for the few hours it would take, upsizing the bolts may not be a bad idea!

I am certainly the last one in the world who would tell you not to do your own thing, or try to come up with something better. I had already guessed your reason, but wanted you to say it.
For my 2 cents worth - I say "jump in and see if it floats" pun intended!

PS You might think about a stronger HS attachment?

I will agree on the bushwheels to an extent... 90% of those who have them, do not use them for the intended purpose.  Landing on 2000' grass strips are not what they are meant to do.  I can tell you first hand, there is a huge difference on river rock landings with 26, 29 and 31" bushwheels.  I have not flown 35" tires yet, but I they say the difference is as much going from 31 to 35 as it was from 29-31.  If I was really working the plane, there is NO substitute for the big tires.  That said, I would not go bigger than the 26" on the avid.  That is the perfect tire for us guys who do play off the beaten path with them.  I would also venture to say that alot of the bent up gear and fueselages would not have happend if they had the 26" tires beacuse, yes, they DO soak up the bumps that damn good

You got into the whiskey again??    That truck caption is FN hillarious!  and true!  KInda like my buddy says that owns a jewlery shop.. When guy come in to buy rings for the wives/GF it pretty much holds true, the bigger the diamond, the littler the dick
