    C Drive Rear Seal Replace
My engine is inverted and the rear seal on the C drive just in front of the rubber donut is leaking.  Can this seal be pulled out the back and replaced or do I need to remove the gear and bearing with a press and then replace the rear seal.  Just hoping for a shortcut and it looks like it could be pulled from rear.

    Thanks

    My son's latest projects
My Third son's 98 Chevy S10 with 3/4 ton Chevy Axles 4.3 Liter will have a Turbo 350 or Turbo 400 with NP203? (I think). Should be a good rock crawler with that amount of flex and the High Torque engine. The other pics are of my Tailwind fuse recovered by my youngest son during Christmas Break and off times at A&P school and finished in Polytone.

I don't feel any detent in my lever - guess I will have to rig up something to hold the lever open/closed - would hate for it to vibrate to closed position while flying - or reset by a pilots foot accidently - kind of hard on pilots to have no brakes on touchdown!
    Thanks,

Randy they should come with one. Is your electric motor out in the breeze? I put 3.8 on mine today. Very happy with it. With the IFA, Hacman, and fuel flow computer you almost have to use your brain to operate this thing now. As my buddy said "it's almost like a real plane"

I would think Ivo direct would be the best source. I have a polished "skull cap" spinner for my IFA-UL Ivo.

    Chris,

I will be the first to admit that I am new to the business of carb balancing so my views are open to change as I learn more about this. What the CarbMate indicated after balancing the carbs with the neutralizer spring in place is the balance remained in balance through the range of throttle movement with slight flicker to the right at one point. My guess is that the balance tube will handle that slight change. When I get a chance I will check with the Mate hooked to the primer lines and the balance tube in place to see what happens. One other note is that the spring does not neutralize the throttle springs totally but does reduce the pull substantially. The carbs will still go to full if one of the throttle cables going to the carbs fails. Will check to see what happens if the cable to the splitter fails by disconnecting it.

You wont have to worry for long Jim,
If they cant take all the guns, then they will take all the bullets!   Homeland Security has just ordered a BILLION PLUS ,223s, to try to dry up the market - While letting 2600 illegal immigrant criminals out of jail, "To save money"?
Strangely, that .223 is what our military uses - Now what are they going to do without bullets.....Oh yes, they have drones!.
Good news Leni - No more firing squads - maybe use the Towelheads death by stoning, or flogging?
Got to stop on here and make some more spearpoints......

Not sure if anyone saw this; does anyone have a source for the skull cap spinner to fit the IVO IFA (Medium)?

    Thanks,

I decided the fail "on"  for the Bing 64's was not what I wanted and changed mine to fail "off" on my Subaru.  It just was not normal to me to have them work that way and it was easier to utilize the throttle cable linkage to pull the carbs on rather than off.

Yup, it's funny. As soon as I get to a real computer I will move this thread. Jim, if you get shot for this then I will truly face a firing squad for the crap I have done wrong in the last week!

No it's not just you, That was my fault when I posted the message.  I didn't notice I was in the wrong section and messed up.  I doubt that it's the worst thing I ever did in my life, but if I deserve to be shot for it, I'll just have to live () with that.   LOL  LOL

Just to be clear, cause you can't see I'm grinning as I type this,  First part is fessing up and saying I'm sorry, second part was trying to be funny.  Hope it worked.   Jim

Thanks for posting the pics.  Do you have any pics of the repair you could post?  I think I understand what you are saying about not pulling on the center of the longeron.  You actually have leverage that twists the longeron.  Thanks for the info.  Jim.

I had a similar failure of my fuselage due to Bush Gear. I feel the problem is the placement of the gear attach tabs directly under the longeron. This causes a bending moment to the tab which caused torsion to the longeron. If you look at the placement on a cub it is offset to the outside to put the V Leg load directed to the center of the longeron. My solution was to add a brace tube to resist this bending moment. Attached are pictures of the damage.

I have the strainers now. I had to make them. I bought the Spruce type and desoldered them. I bought the fittings from Airdale and resoldered the screens onto them.

    Hello Mo and C5Engineer,

thanks for your ideas. I found on ulm-technologies an fuel tap with strainer... and this is the right to build an
    fitting for my avid.
The fuel tap is 1/8" female, 90 degree elbow with 6mm. The shutoff is on the bottom...and i can
remove them...an close it with a cap. Now i have a 1/8" fitting with strainer and 6mm...

When i get the things from aircraft spruce... and i come from our avid and talk to my wife that
the hole from the tank is to small... she said... it´s your old problem darling...

I´m to worried to drill the hole in the tank from 1/8" to 3/8". When the metal plate is to small... i have a big problem.
Now, when somebody need a 1/8" fitting for an tank... we now what to do is...

brrr ... cold in germany... next time to put some wood in the fire...

    Flugtaxi,
See if you have enough space to drill out and tap the new hole 3/8 NPT or I think it is called FIP now, and then use the one you have from Spruce.

    Camera Test Flights, Jeff's Avid
Well, I've got about 14+ hours on Jeff's bird now.  With the melting snow we could no longer get off on skis at Big Lake airport where Jeff has it so he put the wheels on.  On this beautiful Monday night I figured part of the test protocol had to include how it performs as a picture platform and posing for the camera.  I think it did pretty well; see what you guys think...
