I'm not sure my French ultra light license would allow me to legally test fly a speed wing in the UK - particularly not after April 12th (internal European, and not very funny, joke...)...
I did learn to fly mine by myself (trained on nose wheel) and had almost no hours when I did it. This is not to brag but just to say that it ain't that hard, and should , quoting from above, be a breeze with any previous tail dragger experience. I also did the test flights after my complete rebuild myself.
Most Avids in the UK are speed wings and if you really think you need it help it should not be that hard to find.
But, I'll try to find another reason to why you should bring me on a flight in your Chipmunk - I'm sketching on a "tour de Britain" and I'll pencil in Fen End Farm...

Right.. so being wrong is a good thing... so by installing a second caliper I can double the braking force.. Thank you Jerome!

    Brake - dual calipers?
Any point in installing a second caliper?
In theory, with the pressure provided from pressing the brake cylinder being the same, adding a second caliper would give half the pressure power per caliper, compared to signle caliper, and therefore the same brake power. The only difference being that the brake power is spread over double the brake pad surface. As long as the brakes are not heating too much the brake power should remain approximately the same.
In theory - but theory and reality does not always align...
I'm looking for real life experience in adding a second caliper (while not alos changing the rest of the installation).
Did it make any difference? Nop, a little, some, night and day...

Feels pretty good to have inspired Trent... And I have a strong belief in the power of sharing ideas.

That is the best advice you can get.
There is speed where you transition from tailwheel to rudder authority (the other way around when landing) and it is not a sweet spot so don't seach for it. Taxi slow and full throttle when deciding to take off. At landing just let her roll straight until she slows down. If you have individual brakes - don't touch them... And yes, grass...

You can stop clicking on it now guys... 5000 views in 5 days... most of my films never get that many views!

    Laurent,
well, the post production workflow is very cumbersome for 360 footage... The files are massive, people are talking about the size of 4k, this is 5.7k... every minute is 800mb and generate 2 files that need to be stitched in a software that comes with the camera. The same software can also re-frame the footage, i.e. select what part of the image you will use and then export that sequence in a flat "2D" format so you can integrate it with other normal footage like I have done in this film. You the take this and the other footage and process it normally in your preferred NLE. Then you realize that the re-framed sequence need to be a little different to really fit the narration, so you go back and start over again. Several times. How long? My wife would say "for ever"...
The re-framed footage is in 1080 resolution so it will work with whatever you are already successfully editing with. You might want to use proxy files. I'm doing this on a descent, but far from extreme, gaming laptop.
There is a plugin available (still in beta test) for both Adobe and DaVinci Resolve. It is more advanced for Adobe at the moment and very basic for DaVinci. It allows you to, once the footage is stitched, to do the re-framing directly in your NLE avoiding the back and forth.
However, my guess is that many 360 cameras will end up in a drawer once the initial joy over tiny planets and rabbit holes have settled - it takes a lot of or work to get something nice to watch and the workflow will always be cumbersome. Very short, single scene films, can be done directly on a better smartphone but other than that you need to like the post production part.
I would put it this way, it should never be the first action cam you get. If you don't already have, say, at least 2 GoPro type cameras in use when filming a 360 will not be of much use.
    Regards
    Fred

Yes I can do the same, it is basically the same thing (except for the upper drawer thing). The difference is that I'm telling you where to look "inside the sphere" that is the projected photo while she let you chose where to look. I have posted a 360 photo on FaceBook (where it shows correctly, it would show equirectangular here) from inside my cockpit where you can move around all look wherever you want. If you click it should come up in a viewer and you can move around.
The look around views as well as "tiny planet" and other possibilities are fun to play with and have their utility. I have difficulties seeing a longer film in full 360 - how would you know where to look, and when? You would miss the murder.. My film here is probably the longest sequence I'll ever do (and it was just for test), I see 360 as a possibility to add some hard to get and sometimes spectacular viewpoints into a "regular" 2D film.
And, by the way, where did you look in the Naomi "SexyCyborg" Wu video? I think I could have edited so you got the same view without moving around...

no, not waterproof but there is an under water housing available for diving and rumours about a shallow water casing to come.

I'm using a "360 degrees" camera (it is the latest trend in action cam...). It it mounted on a stick in front of the wing and films "everything". Then in post production you chose what part of "everything" you want to show (or keep everything and give your audience virtual reality glasses).
The camera is an "Insta360 One x"
Here are some pictures of how the camera is mounted:

    A different film from Fred...
Playing with my new toy... This is just a test but expect 360 footage to included in my future films. A very different way of filming - most of the work is done in post production and the workflow is rather cumbersome - but rewarding..?
Let me know what you think!

No, I have not. While it could be interesting it is an unlikely scenario, a bungee braking at landing. Ever heatd about a bungee breaking (bungees cut by the safety wire when the wire loop end un on top of the bungee not counted)? I follow the recommendation to replace the bungees every 5 years. The horisontal bungee is not the new safety wire but ntended to work together with the normal bungee, adding increasing resistance as the gear extends without providing a hard stop.

...and cut that highly destructive "safety wire" that limit the gear deflection. The wire will destroy even a reinforced seat truss. Replace it with a stiff horizontal bungee between the gear legs:

Like many I have been struggeling with static on the radio and after reading the posts on the topic I got myself a filter... A not too cheap (about 20 USD/Euros), very sturdy in a shielding metal case and I particularly liked the thick copper wires. How could this go wrong?

The first impression is amazing new and different static in ADDITION to the old static...
I need to do some more investigation (install some switches so I can disconnect the filter and bypass it at will... )
    To be followed...

    TJay,
ok for one single, common, ground buss and not use the air-frame for ground. But the air-frame should still be connecte to the same grounf buss, right, or should the air-frame be insulated from the electric cirquit?
