    Matco tail wheels
    Hello All!! I'm about to replace my Maule tail wheel, because of the iffy stories I've heard about them, .Has anyone tried the single arm Matco 8" tail wheel set up, I know they work, but will it hold up with only a single arm. There is a little less weight with a single arm, but is that worth the future posible failures?

    Thanks! Just wondering, my plane seams to have a definate positive, or top of wheel out position, empty, no fuel or load, I suspect it had been ground looped at some time in the past, due to the wheel outer rim having edge damage, wondering if this is normal, or not, I didnt know it would change in use. I'm not sure yet about toe in or out. I'll be checking it. I know the wheels will straighten up when loaded, but I just wanted some input on what is normal to start. Thanks again, sorry for the rooky questions, better to ask first than fix later! Ironman Al!

    Carbon fiber for flap repair.
    Hey every one! So as I work in the series V , to get ready for spring, One of the tasks is to repair or replace the damaged flaperon ends, after close exam, they apear to be made from carved and shaped blue foam, covered in a thin coat of plastic, like bondo. This proved to be very fragile, and the foam was dissolved in places under the plastic. I opted to replace them with a new end made of dense foam that was resin resistant, after shaping and installing that in the ends I coated the tips with resin. Before that was totally dry, I covered the ends with a tight woven carbon fiber, pre cut to shape from a paper patern. Then taped it down smooth and let dry. After drying, I coated with more resin over lapping into the main aluminium Flap.I need a couple more coats and then sand smooth with a final coat of resin to make a finish. This should be very strong and not dent or tare like the old ones.

    The final answer to this interchange of wheel rims question is that a 40-60A outer rim will fit the40-281 wheel exept it's aluminium not Magnesium. So if anyone has or sees one for sale please let me know! Thanks Al!!

    It is the WW2 SNJ Texan, Naval Trainer, for the Avenger and Wild cat, Sorry for the delay, I thought this post had gone through, That Plane Had a Huge Radial engine, An Alison I believe, it was removed to be rebuilt, it was over 5 foot diameter in size,.

    Has anyone tried buffing out a wind shield? Factory Kitfox one? Probably Lexan.I've polished out tail light lenses with real good results to major scratches and scuffs, like new, using just regular auto paint polish resin past and a buffer!

    So after calling the Parker Clevland co in Ohio, I found out that the Clevland wheels that came with the Skystar Kitfoxs back in the 90s were specifically made for them alone and no other wheel they made will match the outer rim. 40-281 is the entire wheel assemble, 162-06500, is the outer rim, . so I will be buying a new outer rim! Unless someone has a Kit Fox wheel from then. Thanks for looking around for me, especially Edmo!!

    Funny that's a 1953 I believe, definitely Korean war era, Now the new unmaned aircraft have made this type of plane obsolete. They had rockets for marking target's on some and some crews put 50 cals. In the back. They were isued out to every NATO country back then.

    Hey All! Has anyone ever tried useing a 3 hole outer rim on a 6 hole inner rim, ?its a 600-6 wheel, Clevland. Are they the same hole spread? Probably a Cessna rim would be close 172 ect..Thanks for any input! If it would work it would save a lot of money and searching. Ironman Al.
