I would definetly have it looked at, that way u know and there probably nothing wrong with itnbut the end seals should b changed and check/replace the waterpump seals, i had mine looked at by Darby's Performance Machine here in Fairbanks, mine was all good inside so no parts to replace was just a gasket, seal, and a mag check on crank for cracks, im sure is more to the checkout of motor, was only $380. Make sure its ur "Airboat Motor" lol. They r ski-doo/Rotax guys there with lots of parts instock.
I picked up a used supercub tailspring they r a stack of 3 leafs, and only used two of the stack. Probably could use just main spring, but im still buildin KF# 0038 so not sure on one or two leafs but think 3 way to much. Got used spring for $50
Ohhh man comon!!! 22 above is awesome flyin weather. Its 8:30am and it 19 above now. But we been havin some odd warm weather so far this winter. Hahahahahaaaa well guess if u been here 48yrs u get a little use to it but i still love my Carhartts!!! It has a 532 single ign, elctric start, muffler heat, B box, 68" GA Ivo,
Well did about an hr and a half worth of flyin and taxi work yesturday. Was a good day 22above but no sun. Still was AWESOME!!!!! My flying buddy Brian (in pic) said the Blackfox 0021 sure b a nice bird and it climbs like hell, i think she will b a ton of fun.
Or u can goto ur local snowmachine dealer i just went to polaris to get a T waterfitting for my my sons sled. They r 1"x1"x5/8 high heat plastic. His sled is a 2001 600xc we just did a 144x2" conversion.
Yea im real new to aircraft buildin but ive built plenty of stuff in my life, and it just seems to me that one of the most important parts of the wing/airplane the fueltank shouldnt b hard mounted and made strucual if it has now structure itself to speak of, but like i said im not good with aircraft design just my pee brain idea, and kind of copying piper design, and i should have started the discussion as a question. Thanks to all for the opinion and facts. I probably wont find an aluminum tank that isnt leakin already, or most mayb have thrown them in trash/recycled. So i may just have one in the right wing only. I really dont need the extra fuel capacity, was just copying my Blackfox
Well my plan was to install the tank into the wing like they mounted on dads PA12. That way the tank not hard mounted to the wing like in the build paperwork. No wonder they cracked rivited/glued to the aluminum spar. I think they need capture but also need to float a bit so the wing can flex without screwin up the tank. Not to mention the nice access u have to the tank thro the top cover for inspection/removal. Wont the fiberglass tank eventually leak rivited/glued to the wing also over many yrs? This just my opinion. Those aluminum tanks been in use a longtime on other aircraft so something must work right, and also being an old car/harley builder ive always sloshed the tank with sealant.
Well now onto the wings, i have 2left wings and the left needs the most work so ill tackle it first. Thinking id like to have a 6gallon aluminum tank in the left wing like the right one has. Thats how my Blackfox is setup one in each wing plus the cowl tank. And think ill make the droop tips bolt/screw on also like the blackfox is nice for access into the end of the wing if ever needed
Lookin good Bob!!! I hope to get on my wings b4 long. But ive got left over Oratex 6000 from recovering the pa12. Question cant tell for sure but looks like there no update/strenghting on ur flaperon hangers?
Well the fuseloge is done for now, still a few small things to tackel but had to moveon to workin on a friends Mercedes, she lost control of it and ended up in ghe ditch on the slick roads. Once get the fromtend fixed and backon ill start on the rebuild of the wings, mayb by this summer it will b a flyer again. Should b a light little hotrod for gettin out fishin i hope (least best it can b for the plane it is) hahahaaaaa oh forgot to show the orange stripes with the lights of. I like the reflective pinstripe tape
Ohhh now ur talkin!!! Love the floats no better way to go fishin, well unless the water is already frozen like here in Ak at moment. One day i hope to have floats on my BlackFox. Ive found a set of EDO 1050 a friend has, will c what happens.
R u sellin the prop and motor as a package? I mayb interested in the prop, also interested in ur seat upolstery? Also dont know if ur interested and y parting it all out, (seems a shame), but i have a nice fuseloge #0048 and tailfeathers that would fix ur plane. I had bought it for parts. Im in fairbanks ak. 907 460 9591
Yes how to test the muffer heater is to fly the plane. But i was refuring to the english wheel and metal strecher. Still a long ways for flyin the Bluefox 0038, the heater in my Blackfox 0021 works good.
The air intake for my muffler heater will have a scoop im building that will b mounted on the lower fiberglass cowl for easy removale and line backup when put lower cowl backon. Here pic of where comes out thro cowl, still building the aluminum scoop on the english wheel and stretcher to mount on there. Hope it works for me, Hahhaaaaa
Well u r right Fred about that, guess i just go the extra mile to sealup every airleak i can, im a wimp when comes to gettin cold hahahahahaaaaa to many frozen yrs out workin on equipment in the winter or driving them cross country in winter to a remote mine,
