  1. Yamma-Fox added a post in a topic Best cleaner and "rain beader" for Windshield?

Thanks guys.  I'll get some of both.  I love how RainX works when you hit a shower and it also seems to make bug cleanup easier.

Best cleaner and "rain beader" for Windshield?
Wondering what everyone uses to clean their windshields and if there is a a good "RainX" type product that works on plastic.

  4. Yamma-Fox added a post in a topic Wanted: 2.25" prop flange extension

I checked on that one in New Zealand and he had sold it (forgot to pull the ad).
And yeah I'll want to be in the 2.25 or 2.5" length so I should probably just drop $250 for a new one the right length with 75mm on both sides.
Mostly I thought I'd post it up here in case someone had one collecting dust and would rather have $100 collecting dust.
Jim, hope to be flying this summer and look forward to joining your wing somewhere soon!

I am away from it right now. But it has a larger Center hole, and then the holes on the Outer Circle are larger to except the bushings.

Yep this is a luga prop on the yamaha with c-box.
I think I'll see if he will sell that spacer.  With some bushings I think I'll get it to work.
Jim thanks for the find.  I missed it on my Google"ing"

Yeah the only idea I had here was to mill off the center hole "lip" seen on the top in this pic.
then mount it backwards  with the 75mm side on the c gearbox and the 4" side on the prop.
Doing it that way would require bushing inserts in the larger holes on the prop and the spacer in the picture.  Those bushings must be a standard part of 912 prop mounting?
Below is pics of outer side of my prop hub.  The wider hole pattern has larger diam holes on the inside part of the hub, kinda like on that spacer.

Unfortunately no in this case because of the airbox and oil tank which would really interfere if I moved the cowl back because of the cowl taper to the nose.  Keeping  the cowl forward to the windshield flare that is on it gives just enough room for those to snugly fit.

Totally agree.  That perticular one goes from the 75mm to the 912 pattern  (4"?) So I have to see how Id manage that but since my propeller has both patterns I think I'll get it to work but I'd need some bushings for those large holes on that spacer Jim found.

Yep need it to get the prop clear of the cowl.  Cowl has to go that far forward in this case for a couple other reasons.

    Wanted: 2.25" prop flange extension
    Looking for a 2.25 or 2.5" extension for my C box (75mm circle - 6 bolt).
Anyone have one on a shelf collecting dust?
If not then any recommendations that wont break the bank?
    Thanks.

  12. Yamma-Fox added a post in a topic Base to final stall

Sounds like you are well within the the envelope there.  But one lesson I learned along the way was that I had a bad habit of using a little skidding turn (extra rudder kicked into the turn) to get lined up when I would be overshooting final.
I learned that was a bad technique because I was essentially dumping lift off that inside wing and setting myself up for a "flip on your back" stall if I would've gotten too slow at any point in the skid. Really what I was doing was what your instuctor did to force a plane into a demonstrated spin...  stall and kick hard inside rudder.
Inverted Concepts had a great vid demonstrating it but I can't find it right now.

My nsi e81 paperwork said 225lbs fwf, which was probably optimistic.
The Yamaha comes in around 170-185 for most people.  Below is Steve henrys weight worksheet

I think it is possible that even a medium  sized grain of sand in between those gearbox gears could produce that which you describe.  Something so small that when you backed it up it went in with the oil and you'd likely not detect it when you opened it back up.
I really don't know, just tossing out ideas here but if it were something in the engine I think it would've have felt a little less "metal to metal" since you'd be working through the hardy disk rubber when you pulled the prop... it would have had a little give I'd think.

  17. Yamma-Fox added a post in a topic Grass strip help....bumpy.

Turf science is complicated for sure and I bet the plan really would be different for different environmental locations / soil types.
I would look up whoever does a good job taking care of a golf course / ball field / public park nearby for some good advice.

Personally I would go the route of big fat tires with low PSI.
Might not be the idea that you're looking for here, but if you take it far enough you could (impractically) operate off a tilled field.

P.S.  I'm jealous of your private Airfield!

Vance ya did good on that $550 mount!
Heres CPS at $995 and it looks like just for the frame and no hardware.
Oh and for sure if you can build it yourself then that's pretty much always the way to go.  For me I'd weigh how long (reaaally long) it takes me against just going out and doing my day job and paying someone who is better at it

Willam is extremely reasonable.   He said it will be right about $1000, which is about what you would pay for a 912 mount for kitfox.
He is also planning to offer headers, oil tank, coolant tank, and throttle reverser for the Avid.
Next he hopes to make up KF fwf parts.

Are the Heavy Hauler and Magnum just MK4 variants, sharing the same engine mount?

For my information, does the MK4 share a mount with any other models?
