Be well aware of cold seizure issues - you don't want coolant returning to the engine too cool!

marcusofcotton added a post in a topic Another neat trim idea
I think it gets into play and flex in the system. I'd say if you grabbed a hold of the trim flap and try to move it, as long as it would hold firm against you it would likely be okay.

Be careful, I have read of issues of flutter in some such applications of the Vernier cables.

marcusofcotton added a post in a topic hi there
If you maximize angle of attitude at rest on the ground, I'm guessing you're doing so by use of shorter main gear. Doing so reduces your useable angle of attack on the ground by not allowing as much rotation of the fuselage during take off and landing. Put it up level and put a skid on where the tailwheel would mount - my skid is square tubing filled with lead to help CG.
This should probably be in a different thread.

Insert pic of monkey covering his ears.
That official weather station is two miles straight east of me. I thought it felt a little extra chilly.

marcusofcotton added a post in a topic Heated Seat
We are all spoiled this year, I haven't even seen 40 below yet (though I haven't paid close attention on the coldest days) let alone the real cold.
When I used to fly the open-air Trike on skis, I used one of those car seat heaters, about 5 amps.

Have you experienced this while flying? If so, did your airspeed increase as well?

Powerfin has a pdf on their website that identifies their recommendations for engine/gear ratio/prop combinations. I very much liked the performance of my Powerfin prop that I used on a trike.

Thanks for posting the process, nice. And you now have wine corks for the next project as well!
How did the weight and, especially, balance come out?

Exciting times Manu! Congratulations!
It sounds like you have too much propeller for it, full throttle static RPMs should be about 6,200.

VGs sure helped my Heavy Hauler wings. First installed under horizontal stab, yep good improvement there. Later did the wing, no numbers but at my 1000' strip with trees around the pucker factor was definitely improved.

That's the one, Jabiru powered. They probably stole the pic from Mark Mendick's site, I had sent him some when he was trying to get going.

Interesting, just glancing at ULPower website and see my Avid MkIV pictured. Wonder if they want to give me an engine for it? Ha!

Just reviewing a bit and feel I should respond to the portion of your reply that I underlined. Beware, cold seizures definitely do happen on these engines (gray head or blue head) with however many thermostats one might or might not have!
Congrats on securing the airport spot!

John, I didn't disagree with you on the primary design purpose of the hole. I'm glad you know the coolant temperature differential spec, I wish you well in achieving it and cabin heat. Let us know how it works out for you for the benefit of all of us and those who follow. Don't forget the sage advise also regarding holding accessories out at shoulder height and letting go of them to see if they go up or down.
Blue skies and happy flying.
