    New rebuilt Model C HH
My restored Avid model C Heavy Hauler with updates. Frame has been extended 16". Fuselage recovered in 2019, Wing covering very good condition, Mark IV Gear, New boot and engine cowl, New Lexan on windshield, top and doors, Brakes rebuilt, New tires, Seat recovered, New bungees, Great Plains built 80 Hp VW Dual ignition, New struts, 10 gal wing tanks installed 5 years ago. I've been in the test phase getting the bugs worked out. It's a great flying airplane. This is the second Avid that I have installed the Great Plains built VW and I'm very happy with this combination. Neil

I'm flying with a loaner prop from Prince Prop who is building my ordered prop so my specs will change. Best I can say with this loaner prop is climb is 800 fpm top speed is 95 mph. In answering your question about the engine. It's important who builds the engine. My choice is Hummel Engine and Great Plains Engines. There built for aviation use, steel billet crank shaft, duel ignition. They have been in business many years. I have had three of there engines on different planes over twenty years..If you have an extra 20+ grand the 912 might be the better choice if your flying in the mountains. Neil

    Leveling the fuselage
Question, In setting up the flaperons, the manual says level the wing at the third longer rib based on the right wing. At this stage the fuselage is raised at the tail until the right wing is level. Is the fuselage considered leveled even though the floor of the plane is not quite level or is there another step in leveling the fuselage in order to set up the F7a flaperons that I missed in the manual I down loaded. Thanks, Neil

Good advice. Get your license first. You will then find out what direction you want to go. Great story by the way. Neil

Randy, I'm going to try a stock Mark IV rudder being loaned to me by Brad Brummett, he is also on this forum. If I like the out come I'm going to trade my enlarged rudder for his stock rudder. I'll report the out come to you.  Neil

Brad, I live in Bryan, Ohio. Thank you for the offer. I would be worried that your rudder might get damaged during shipping.
I'll try and figure what freight might be. Thanks, Neil

    Randy,
Very interesting.  Are you saying your C model fuselage has been stretched 18"? My rudder is 24" at the widest point. What is the width of yours. Also is yours the round style rudder?

    Modified Rudder

On my model C I have a round rudder has been increased in size from 18" to 24". It's in perfect condition. I would like to make a trade for a stock rudder. If there is interest here I'll post some pictures. My fuselage has been stretched 16" and I feel this is to much rudder with a stretched fuselage. Neil 419-551-1812
