one of the problems were that those motors were modified after their second or third overhaul one of them was a 80hp the one on the rans im really not sure on which that one more than likely was owner error all of these guys are just not interested in sharing there stories which I found odd but these gentlemen were maintaining their planes themselves which could be a big part of it but it just has left me worried im sure It would be fine but I just worry about it when thinking about buying a used motor. Especially if I decide to buy a used 912 for what ever I decided to build or buy I also would love to know if any of you are in eastern ND or western MN id love take a ride in one since I've only sat in a kitfox 2

well thank you for your input but bottom line is I have watched 3 rotax 912 blow up after putting a big bore kit and I need at least 120hp for everything I need to do

oh ok thank you though for posting it I might just buy a used 2 or 3 at this point fly that till I can save up for the s7 sti kit and just build that out with the 233 since that motor was designed for it but this two you send me the link on seems really interesting and id probably be pretty happy with it until I fly with my Buddys that have citabrias then will want 100hp haha

that is absolutely a beautiful two what kinda hp are you getting out of that hks 700 im just kinda curious also what is its cruise speed as well as stall speed

what major airframe modifications would have to be done I was planning on building mine with a bigger rudder full bush gear, adding vortex generators and a few other things but only thing I saw that would be an issue is firewall, engine mounts, snd of course building s custom cowling but I don't want the round cowling anyway so id really love to know what id be in for, also I have found ten 233 for 14k so far so im not to worried about the price I just don't trust the rotax on everything I would want to do with it

and I found the motor to do a 130hp Kitfox with the lycoming !!! lycoming makes a 233 which is only about 60lb different and is designed for LSA this might be my ticket its only making 116hp but I know a few tricks to build them up to get some more

thank you guys I honestly think it can be done I know that the rotax 912 is 100hp and its a hundred pounds lighter than the lycoming but apparently the Kitfox 7's you can order the kit with a continental titan io340 which between 120 and 150 pounds more I also have heard of some one putting a continental on a 5 but I was unsure if I could do what I wanted with a 3 with that o-235 since I have one waiting to be rebuild and im just looking for the right project for it but that avid does look very appealing I've just never heard much about them where Kitfox I have some close friends who have build a few thank you for all your input though I really appreciate it.

and I understand that I've grown up in aviation and I understand cheap and aviation don't belong in the same sentence but im really try to stay at or just under 20K I don't are about the panel or the paint I really am looking for more for a flying project than anything else simple is better to me

heres the thing I want a kit fox it fits all my need but I really want one with a lycoming or continental I trust them more than any other I really want 130hp but im trying to keep it as cheap as I can

does someone have the link to that avid then also if I were to go with the fox 3 what would be the biggest motor non rotax on it and not have to do anything to insane?
