The Rx1 exhaust shoots straight out of the engine under the seat out the back of the machine, I was orginally going to use it and weld in some 90's but but unless you ran it like Steves it would be hard to fit under the cowl, thats why I looked for the header with a 4-1 merge collector, its was super light ,not sure how much horse power im going to loose but Like Jim says110 or 120 HP will be plenty for me

We had to cut a refit the pipes, they are 1/8" larger diameter 1 1/2" and the rx1 is 1 3/8" but was alot cheeper the buying a 4-1 merge collector and all the 90's

A little more progress, we manage to re work a stainless steel exhaust off a 750 honda to fit the RX1 ,now we can finish off the motor mounts. Teal have you got any pictures of how you plumbed in your radiator lines, trying to figure out how we can get some cabin heat

Exhaust is looking good, what type of muffler do you normally use,we were thinking of using a super trap on mine. Good idea on inspecting the oil filter

I am using a kitfox 5 cowl so you will have the same amount of room, its a tiny beast of a motor.

Im not to sure I can do a build thread but will post pictures and try and answer any questions you have ,im sure Teal or Brett will be away more qualified . Im not sure how much my motor mount will help , the fat avid has 10 firewall attach points , what we did so far is run 1 1/2" 4130 pipe around the engine for the main mount and its bolted to two center motor mounts . We making 4 secondary braces to hold the engine in place then do the exhaust and air box etc and then see were we can run the last braces, thats are plan subject to change at the drop of a beer
We just got started but heres what we have so far

Brett or Teal,we are just working on the motor mount for the RX1 and just wondering how to get the right angle on the engine since it sits tilted. We are thinking we need to set the float bowls level but would like to here from one of you guys before we go too far,
Thanks Willis

Hey Teal, thanks alot for the info. The soob thats currently install has the prop flange pretty close to parallel with firewall but the when flying level the plane always flys tail low and needed back some back pressure on the stick to keep it at a constant alt..Im sure the angle of the engine has quite a bit to to with it. I was told the bottom door sill on fuelage should be pretty close to level in level flight but the soob flys tail low in regards to that for sure.

RX1 Motor MountJust getting ready to start fabricating the motor mount for the RX1 on the Avid +, and got a few questions. We are trying to figure out if the prop flange should be parallel to the firewall .I also wondering about offset for thrust but figure if need be I could shim it with washers . I have done some measuring with the soob installation and the engine is diffenently angle upward from firewall. Anyone have any thoughts?
