Well....I think I am calling my attorney in the morning. Stace said last friday,25 November, that I would get a call a week later...possibly on Saturday that he would be leaving to deliver my kit and another plane. He said it had been long enough. I heard nothing all weekend and have not been able to make contact with anyone out there. Not sure what to make of it from here....I have passed up a few really good deals on flying aircraft....now gone. If anyone out in that area knows something...I would appreciate a heads up. And not taking my calls is not good with me.

To Chute or not to Chute ?
I have often wondered who actually has a deployable parachute on board. I know a guy that used to have a Airbike had one bolted on and another on a Phantom. Are there really that many structural failures that require such added weight? Or is it a peace of mind concept? I don’t plan on any in flight stress testing of airframe components.....no aerobatics....maybe a wingover and some stalls.I am quite content with mostly just plundering the counryside and seeing where I may land next. Just wondering if there are any others that use such a device and if it is worth the investment....they are quite pricey. If I have a doubt of the structural integrity of an airplane....I won’t climb into it for flight. I have read and heard of several horror stories involving these chutes. I just think that if you have a spar failure altitude may be your enemy if not high enough to deploy. Primary flight control loss? Here I go again with the what if's. Then again...back to the theory of actual airframe failures of NOT abused aircraft. Your take on this? The Cub and the Champ never came with one......I cut my teeth in these planes. Never seen one in any of the Cessna's I plugged around in either.

Yes ! Please have a look see...would be willing to purchase a hardcopy if you are willing to sell one. Good reading I hear...and never can anyone know enough....from one of my professors. Any chance you are into prospecting up there? We like to go out and run the highbanker a little now and then. I can keep a pan in the plane for checking new creek spots while camping in the future. I will hope that they get straightened out and get my plane to me soon.....
    Thanks

Well I have ordered a new Ridgerunner near end of August....now paid in full, for over a month, and have been put off now for about a month after being told it was finished {The airframe}. Now the guy that makes the cowls for the company has developed personal health issues and has not finished the cowls on time I have been told. Stace has been a little lax about keeping me informed and I am becoming a bit concerned now. He was supposed to call me yesterday and let me know that he was going to deliver the kit along with another plane or box them up for shipment. It is not looking too good from my end as I see it. I was told I would have the plane by no later than the 25 Oct.....I just want to get started so I can fly it next season...some time. I have been reluctant about posting much information, but I think I have been a model customer....patient and has paid all claims due in full...no questions. Now me wants to get building. I understand that hardships can occur in anything, but in this economic time it is just good business to come through now days. I have even offered to accept the kit without a cowl and work out the difference. Just want to get started you see. I don't want to point fingers at folks or create problems for anyone.

"0" time 503 w/ C box 3:1 gearset...thinking of getting a Powerfin 3 blade...lower inertial mass and a decent reputation. I have given up to the suggestions of the 3 blade prop being smoother and less harsh on the airframe. I like that a lot....like adding life to an airplane.

So how does one come to get one of those CPS catalogs that had all the great info in them?? Really would like to get hold of one.

    How to wait......
Kit will be here in my shop in 5 days. How do you wait this out without driving everyone crazy? I guess I will just have to hurry up and wait some more. I think I have read everything known to man that is posted on the interweb for my reading and learning curve from the trials that others before me have remarked with these smaller craft. Thanks for the giant heads up on too many things to mention here on this forum alone! OK I will sweep and clean up again....and start contemplating a paint scheme.....now wheres that dust pan.............

    Look what showed up !
"0" time 503 with C box w/new beraings & seals with 3:1 gears. Fresh top end,new pistons & rings +.010", new everything in bottom end as far as bearings and seals. Has 1 hr on test club. Now if my kit would show up....taps foot. Any suggested 2 blade options? Still wanting to 2 blade it ....70 x 35 ? Really have a liking for Tenn. wood props. I am not so much of a fan of IFA units wich seem to be the thing now. Just need to crunch a few more #rs to be certain of what I and the PC think is good and what works in real life.

    Kitfox/Avid drag fittings
I am looking for a source for just the drag/anti-drag strut attatch fittings that are secured to the 2.5" wing tubes/spars. I can make them , but I would like to see if there are any sources before I fabricate a jig and add more still to my build chores. I am not too keen on flattening a tube and riveting it to the spar tube. Any help * tips * pointers * jeers from the stands are all welcome !

    Thanks in advance...

  10. Tree top pilot added a post in a topic The best prop option is ?

OK....Don't beat on me too bad. It is after all...a cousin of sorts to most planes here. Ultralight version...with the big tires...everything else is going to be cut in weight. I vacuum bag carbon parts and fabricate a lot of tube structures....so there will be a lot of weight saving items hitting the list of to do's. Just want a minimal plane that meets the UL scene and safe. That is why I chose the ridge runner. The 503 is being purchased at a great bargain insomuch so I can not pass it up.

So the theory of 2 blade props is out.....Hmmmm. Now every one seems to like the 3 blade units ....probably helps to dampen engine harmonics too. Now I am getting a new picture with all this. Flying the Cub or the Champ always seemed to be understood and second nature. But with an aircraft having less enertial energy I want the smoothest power package I can get. At least it would help the airframe live a bit longer. I like the idea of having nearly unreal climb rates as compared to ...say a C-150. Hot days of summer and 2 guys in a 65 horse = no short field performance. Not like an Avid or Kitfox offer anyway. Still wanting to 2 blade the air into submission.....

The best prop option is ?
I am planning to get a "O" time 503 Dual ig. power setup soon with a "C" gearbox containing 3.47:1 set. Now wanting to fly a two blade and have best climb / cruise performance.....field elev. is 998'. I do not want to get an adjustable pitch setup....really want to get a nice fixed pitch wood prop. Top end speed is not that important...would rather have the power to get in and out of short strips/pastures.Insert bushplane picture into thoughts here. Flight will be mostly in Va/NC and in the foothills areas. I know for a fact that it has been done and vids of Kitfoxes/ Avids on youtube prove the fact. Now for the suggestions and reasons why or why not. I have been warned already of possible 200 rpms over max at cruise...needing a bit more pitch...and another 1K for another prop. Then I could just throttle back a bit and live with that though. Looking for the tried and true....and proof of theory.
I have not found much in the way of diameter/pitch combos for the ratio on this power plant. Thoughts? Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.....2516 Lima Xray
