    Kitfox down
Brandon Peterson from Kitfox Aircraft was involved in an accident this past Saturday.
He and a passenger, not his wife Heather, hit a power line going over the Snake river and they went in.  N295P was lost but they both got out and were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There is also a matched pair of pieces inside the wing on the web of the rib and under the cap strip to reinforce these brackets.
I converted to the new style hangers when I rebuilt the Mangy.

8.8 is similar to SAE grade 5, which is comparable what AN hardware is.

My NR has treated me well, no complaints.  The performance is not as good at my 78x48 Prince down low, but better top end.
I've spoken with a couple guys at OSH who love their DUC propellers.  One guy had a constant speed version and had nothing but praise for it's performance.

One of the early reports said the engine departed the airframe.  This has proven out to be inaccurate.  Needless to say, loosing a blade will defiantly be a catastrophic situation...
I remember when my friend Dave (built Sputzee the Avid-Kitfox hybrid) was later building a J5 Cub with an O320 on the nose, his research told him that adjustable props and direct drive engines are not a good mix.  He went with a solid Catto on that build.

So you're saying the one world order/government types are colluding with each other to control the economies of all of the "western world" in order to maintain their tyrannical authoritarianism?  I whole heartedly agree.

    Spot on, Jim.
At $50k, they're selling as many as they can make.  They know they have a hot commodity.  To increase production is almost impossible while maintaining the same level of quality that they put into their kits.
Doug's just a little salty because he remembers going to the movies for a nickel...

There's enough reading material and good educational information to keep your brain fed for a while.
I'll say that www.teamkitfox.com also is a good resource for the general type of aircraft too.

Great shot of my friend Paul Buss' Mark 4!
He has since rebuild the fuselage to include an extended and lowered footwell.  I hope to talk him into brining it back again.

Sounds like they made a successful landing but tagged a road sign which spun them around and they nosed over slowly.
I'm amazed the nose gear has no discernible damage.

This happened in my home town, about an hour from me now.  The pilot and passenger were injured but not life threatening, thank God.
Looks like another VW engine failure...

You don't have an airplane.  You have parts.  You'll need a "clean" data plate to make those parts into another airplane.

That's a nice looking mount.  What airframe is this?  I have a friend building a Dakota Hawk (wood design) that is looking for engine mount ideas because the kit manufacturer is little to no help.

I do not have a ring mount.  When I was doing the rebuild, that was originally part of the plan to retrofit the ring to my plane.  With this in mind I build the plane with as much weight to the back as possible.  My CG is very aft compared to the Kitfox manual.  This was to offset the further forward position of the engine.

IMO, both the Kitfox and Mark 4 Avid mounts (which are basically the same) are terrible.  They are awkward to work on and expensive to acquire for what they are.  I would highly doubt that Kitfox Aircraft will sell you a mount without having a serial number for a Kitfox to put it on at least, even if then.  They are very backed up with building kits and LSAs.  Supporting the old (even the model 4) is not on their priority list any more.
The Rotax "ring" style mount is far superior in form and function.  Building the interface from the ring to your avid firewall will not be a major fabrication issue and in the end you will have a better system.
