    A local guy wanted to do one of these competitions at his home-field as a EAA-Chapter event.  I chose not to participate, as did many others, and it was finally cancelled, because I just didn't get a warm-fuzzy from the prospect of tight, low altitude, low airspeed maneuvering like this.
    One of the guys, who crashed the highlander, is a high time, experienced bush pilot with Reno STOL-Drag competition experience.
    The moose-hunter turn is a real danger to even the most experienced pilots.

    Love the sound over-dubbing of the Avid.  Must be the worlds only early Avid with what sounds like a Pratt & Whitney in it….

    Brett has the "Airdale" equipment which included some copies and modifications off of the Avid jigs.  He still has this equipment.

    The original builder of my plane did a horrible job on the cowling and I never took the time to fix it during the rebuild.

    That's probably the difference.

    I needed different size hardware for mine.
    I ordered online and I believe the grade needed is 8.8.  I cross drilled them for safety wire myself.  Metric bolts dot com or some such place...

    500 hours and counting on my 105 hp Zipper.  

    Operating at lower rpm (4000-5000) will consume some oil, but not at proper cruise rpm (5000+).

    No complaints at this time. Quality of the parts and the kit in general was excellent.

    My floats are the original floats that came with my engine when new in 1996.  They work perfectly.  If they aren't broke, don't fix them.

    Yes, I do believe it's the R107 model prop. 
    5500 is about 95-100 mph in smooth air.  I see 110-115 at 6000.  I could get a lot more speed if I pitched up a bit, but I prefer the climb performance.

    Yes, 105 hp through a 72" Luga 2-blade.  Climb out at 5700 RPM, 1700 FPM on a cool day.
