Well that's pretty sad. I can't see a lot of those people putting up with his version of "heavy handed" for too long. All of those that I've met in person seem a lot more intelligent than to buy that. I was of course the new guy there and I know I'll need a lot of help in the future but I find that attitude extremely distasteful. It's my opinion a moderator isn't there for that. Some of us may find that particular discussion extremely relevent. Those that don't aren't forced to participate. I'm disappointed but I guess it's hard to find capable and open minds to do any job. The wrong ones often step up to the plate! Sorry if this sounds like a bash but I for one have no use for Heavy Hands.

  2. JSD added a post in a topic Light-Sport Aircraft Final Rule.... Reminder

I had read that one had to be a private pilot to test and fly the forty hours in some EAA publication recently but it occurs to me that it could have been written before the sport pilot cert. was in effect. It may have been on a chapter website. Thanks for the info. & pics..--Scott

Well I must say that particular subject is pretty critical for some of us in the beginning build stages. It would be most helpful if posters would refrain from representing their opinions as fact until the smoke clears and everyone has a general consensus of what a regulation is in fact. Common sense will reveal the intent of the reg. and a careful reading helps too. I guess that this particular argument becomes somewhat moot when a couple of builders stateĀ  that they have registered their 5s or 6s with a 1320 gross weight. I got by the house yesterday just long enough to read some manual and admire some of the work done by the previous owner on mine. It's not too important to me what it weighs in at as it's my understanding that one needs a private (as opposed to sport) license to test and fly the forty hours anyway. I suppose that the lsa qualify would mean a larger market at selling time. I'm done with this question for a while I guess. I do wonder how it's been handled on some of the other forums.

They're starting my training right out on a taildragger next month so I guess that's the only way I'll know to land. It took a little search to find a place that would do that. Figured I might as well start on what I'll be flying & get that endorsement right off. I live in Colorado but will just take a truckload (I'm in the trucking biz) out to Ohio and they say I can camp there in my sleeper and fly twice a day for as long as it takes. I've got a bunch of time reserved on their Aronca Champ. So that'll be my vacation. ;D

Yes thanks for the link & offer. Steve, we talked in email once & I got busy & didn't get back to you but found your explanation very informative. I do prefer this particular format for a forum over the email list type though I don't tend to post much. I sure don't see any problem with having more than one forum dealing with the same subjects. I'll post some pics of my fledgeling project when I get some time. I've got it stored now until I build my shop. : Thanks again for the interesting book.
