Yep, the deposit/pay direct is mostly a way for the seller to avoid Ebay/Paypal buyer protection.  I don't use Ebay, but if I did I'd run from that type of payment arrangement.  Some do it to try to avoid the Ebay/Paypal % charge, but others do it because it is easier to rip people off.  Not saying this is the case here, but your guard should go up when this is done.

I only buy this kind anymore.  Stays sealed until you push the button on top of the spout (can't see it in this picture).  Makes it a lot easier for a small (puny) guy like me to get a full 5 gallon can positioned into the filler neck without spilling it everywhere.

Ok, sorry, misunderstood what you were looking for.  If I was still in Illinois, you'd be welcome to make a road trip and use one of my lathes.  Coming to Florida would probably cost more than even the exhorbitant machine shop costs!

I was just yanking a chain Ed.  Truck freight is very expensive, makes me understand that show 'shipping wars' more!
I forgot about the dimension limits for UPS/Fedex - I was only thinking of the weight limits.
Given that the Flaperons would have to get on a ship somewhere between Missouri and Puerto Rico, they'd probably take a short detour to China first as well.

Here's a picture - the 5x4 is the biggest part, the extra leg I didn't measure

How much do you need Ed?  I have a 5" x 4" x 1" piece of what appears to be nylon from all the scraps I got with the machine shop I bought.  If I still lived in Illinois I'd bribe you with it to come show me how to work all that equipment I got!

Depending on how big a hurry you are in, I'll be going back sometime late October/Early November to get the Avid - last load on my move to Florida!  Woo Hoo!

How long is a flaperon? (my Avid is 1000 miles away right now).  I just got two new trim tabs for my Cherokee, which are a little wider than I remember my flaperons, but shorter.  The box is 5 feet long, and well built.  The body is 1 by lumber with a top and bottom cardboard screwed on with drywall screws and washers.  It was filled with the shipping equivalent of pour foam.  It came UPS ground.

  14. marksires added a post in a topic Enclosed trailer for Kitfox

If I was using the trailer to haul or store the Avid regularly, I'd have performed some surgery on it, but I only needed it to get the Avid from California to Illinois.  Now I need it to get from Illinois to Florida, but I need to take it apart to recover it, and repair and repaint anything under the old fabric that was finished for dry California air instead of nice juicy Florida air....
Mostly, the trailer is used to haul crap from point A to point B.  Owning a trailer is even more dangerous than owning a truck.  My friends have learned I'll be happy to let them use the trailer, and I'll be happy to drive, but they are loading and unloading it!  I don't like beer, so there is no incentive for me to help...

Mine has what looks like a garage door spring, with cables that attach to the door.  I can't imagine how I'd lift it otherwise, the door ramp is rated for 4,500 lbs and is HEAVY.  The sides aren't there because of the door lift, they are there just to make the opening narrower and p*ss me off I think   .  I suspect they are the structural support for that overhead spring, and the back of the trailer since the door doesn't provide any strength.  If the door had pins or something to engage the opening when closed, that support probably wouldn't be needed.

Don't assume just because it has a fold down door the opening is full width.  Mine has the fold down ramp door, but it the opening is still has a 3" piece on each side for the door to snug up too - that 6" is a killer on an 8' wide trailer.
Measure it twice before you buy.  I only got this one because I needed it quickly, and it was in stock, otherwise I'd have looked for an 8.5 foot wide one with a full width back door.

Anybody who has 8 should at least upgrade to 8.1 if they can.  8 was a remarkable piece of crap, but 8.1 fixed the worst of it.  The old desktop is the default again, and once you get used to where they moved all the good stuff it isn't bad at all.

    Bob,
I'm in Lake City (15FL), but my Avid is still in Illinois.  It will make the trip down in the next truck/trailer run, but I'm burned out on that 2,000 mile round trip, so it may be a bit.  When I get it down here, it needs recovered, and basically overall restored, so it will be in building mode for a while.  Plus I have to make the rigging for the floats I bought from Jim.  I plan on putting the floats on, and then trailering it to a nearby body of water, I doubt I'll have the wheels on it again.  That'll settle the nosedragger/taildragger debate!
