2018 7.0 Alaska Earthquake Damage Vine Road
I took the Avid for a stroll on Sunday to video tape the Vine road damage.  My house was hit hard with nothing left on shelves.  Amazingly stuff was flying over my airplane in garage but it was not damaged.  Fast forward to 1:38 to see vine road damage.

    Behind the power curve
I never thought a engine could break off so easy until I watched this video.  Fast forward to 3:30.  Actually if you look carefully the whole firewall and dash came out.  Wow.

Another thing to consider when installing heat is a defrost fan. The hoses that run into the cabin can run right under the dash. I mounted another cpu fan to blow warm air from under dash to windshield.

LOL that's a pretty good savings.  My next project is to improve the lame flap handle in the picture that is hard to find because its so small.  Got any ideas?  Pictures?

    New Dash
The old fiberglass AVID C dash was looking pretty ratty so I made one with aluminum.  Hope you like.

I finished the installation of the heater core and cpu fan.  Total cost might be $60.00 bucks.  With outside temp at 24 degrees and water temp at 174 the heater core puts out lots of heat.  Will make for nicer flying this winter.

I just laid the cpu fan on top of the radiator and zip tied all the way around.  Its a great solution until I customize something.

I’m curious how to install a heater core. Do I tee off the radiator line and then tee back in or does all the radiator fluid route through the radiator and then to engine?

Fred if your flying in temperatures around 20 to 32 degrees is that heater sufficient to warm the cabin?  Thanks for your suggestions.

    Cabin Heat
    Good Morning,
I need some advice on cabin heat.  Per the picture below a gentleman made a diverter that strapped to the muffler.  My question is if it would be okay to welding one together and weld it to the muffler or should I should strap it to muffler.  Pros and cons please.  The only reason I would weld is to keep vibration from wearing a hole in muffler where the diverter touches and to seal off any cracks where the diverter touches muffler.  What's your thoughts?

Zipper kits are 4300. I did work myself. Very easy.

I installed the Zipper Big Bore kit (114hp) a couple months back.  In my model C it feels like it will climb straight up.  There is so much cruise power that I cannot firewall it for fear of exceeding 130 mph. No need for the tuned intake.
