cajunpilot's Activity

Actually that cleared it up...lost in translation I guess. But, we have two control rods that I incorrectly interpretted as being a part of the Mod. Hence the confusion. Somehow I missed in your previous messages that the cables attached directly to the flaperons with not control rod in between.

As to the manuals and getting you that information, I fell sick with a virus that knocked me out of work and any and all activity for a month. Not to bore you with my histrionics, but in the process and in the disconnect, I did forget about your request, which incidentally occured the day before I was laid low.

As always thanks for the Help

    Hello all,

We are in the middle of installation of the flight controls, now on the F7A Mod. Does anyone have the instructions from airdale that came with the F7A Mod for the Avid Flyer? We really need this as we somehow managed to make it down here without the F7A instructions that should have come with the kit.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

I know you all are where I wish I could have been...Oshkosh. Enjoy it and bring us back all kinds of good info from the get togethers and forums...pictures please!!

Sorry Guys late to the party,

I'm building a Mark IV + from airdale. Appears that we have the Mark IV with modifications to frame for width. As to hardware and other things appears to be same as with Mark IV, we are finding.

My Question is then, it appears to be a very proliferate problem with the tail and needing to extend this clevis? on each side of the rudder?

So wanting to be ahead of the game and about to find a local machine shop to Manufacture some of the parts (owner man.) and possibly extend my control column, I would like to maybe have this done simultaneously.

So real question for AVID owners, is this a mod I will need to perform???

    Down but not out
    Howdy all,

A little under a month ago,  I got knocked for a loop. I caught a bug and have been out of work and on my back for a month.

I am only posting this so as to let those whom I have been communicating with and have been helping our little band of Merry Plane builders otherwise know as the "Cajun Militia" (Air Force Types), that we did not disappear off the face of the planet.

My illness while serious has hopefully been terminated with extreme prejudice      , but not a Doc and should know more by this time next week.

Hopefully as I have had my nose stuck in the manual for the last couple of days we will hit the ground running, well walking and then running, gotta build up the hutspa again.

Either way, running, walking or crawling, diving in feet first...flight controls here we come.

Sorry for the off subject post but just thought it polite to let those know why we all disappeared.

Remember the real location of the Garden of Eden can be found just South of Baton Rouge, La in a little place we call "Death Valley" Home of The LSU Tigers!!

    Doug,

I'm glad you are asking these questions. In fact I think strongly its worth a thread of its own. Leni...What do you think can you move it?

On the answer to the questions I will get back to you ...gotta check with the Older member of the Cajun militia.

    Doug,

Been sneaking around over in the Amphib section to see how the other half lives and noticed some good pictures of your mixer in the background. Would you mind posting some pictures of your mixer/flight control rigging. I learned a lot just by seeing the ones on the Amphib thread.

    Anything would be appreciated.

PS we could also start posting them in the new build pictures thread

    Lenny,

I am glad to hear it about the weld part as we may have to go the same route as Jack.

    All,
We are not sure of how we are to proceed yet. Has anyone thought of/tried designing/building a modified stick. We were of a thought that three inches of offset could be accomplished by an off set stick. I am not sure if it would work as the sleeve coming out of the control column rises up a good bit.

    Thoughts?

    Build Pictures
Just a feeler to see if anyone else likes the idea of creating a thread where you can post pictures (with description hopefully) of your build.

I have found for my own experience that I have been able to glean a lot from just seeing pictures of how the "other guy" did his. It also helped me because I see things I hadn't thought of and go.... Hey, I hadn't thought of that!

Sometimes it is a picture regarding something else and it helps me to see ahead of time how you handled something I have yet to get to.
    What do you think?

PS Lenny are you paying for this site and should we be helping you out on this. I know I have had untold benefit from this already    only fair

    Jack,

I was doing the same thing with my pictures but it was either Lenny or Doug posted a link to something called "power tools" that allowed me download an image resizer. Once installed, what I did was to do the attachment thing at the bottom of the post...."Browse" then when I got to my pictures and the specific one I wanted, I would right click on it and a drop down menu would appear. I originally did this to use the preview feature which allowed me to see my picture before doing the final step in posting. Anyway after downloading the image resizer a new item appeared on that menu "resize picture." It gives you several options; I choose the "medium" size which seems to do very nicely in our format. What it does is to create a copy and place it in the same folder without changing your original. Unfortunately, you have to close and reopen to find the new copy.

    Hope it helps,

    Greg
