  1. Does anyone know what happened to all the manufacturing dies molds etc after Mark Mendick closed Avid Kitplanes? Is anyone thinking of picking up the gauntlet and running with it?

  2. I have tried getting a hold of Mark at Avid Airplane company and no response. Anyone know if he is actually doing anything with his company?

  3. To continue this topic. I am setting my elevator travel. Three questions 1. with 30 degrees up and 17 down do you feel you have good pitch control at all speeds? 2. Is the travel limit an attempt to control pitch forces on the airframe? 3. My construction manual has the up travel limited by the elevator horn hitting the vertical stabilizer post and the down limited by adjusting the fork so the control arm binds at the torque tube when you get the 17 degrees down. Does that all sound correct ? I think I like the stop better.

  4. Thank you all for the information. Going to go with .018 SS

  5. I am putting a Yamaha Apex engine on it. I have the engine and mount so I will use those for determining the footwell size. Have you got a guess on the appropriate gauge for galvanized or Stainless?

  6. I am looking at the firewall that came with the kit I bought and I am pretty sure it is aluminum. That would not offer much protection in an engine space fire. I believe most kits have a galvanized firewall with room for a footwell. Any one have a gauge on the galvanized material an measurements on the footwell bump?

  7. I have a MKIV I am working on. I am the third owner so I have some things to fix, parts to find, etc. In looking for a good brake pedal solution I noted in the pictures that were posted there is a lot more foot room without the tube that holds the nose wheel gear and some of its bracing. I changed to plane to a bush gear setup. I am thinking of cutting the hose wheel tube off flush at the floor and removing the tube that goes back to the seat pan along with the upper tube that goes up to the firewall. The two tubes coming down diagonally from the fire wall seem to be what is normally there without the nose wheel tube. What do you guys think?

  8. I have not found Nylon tubing with the correct ID and OD yet. Polyethylene tubing is what is used for refrigerator water line. I didn't think this was going to be such a pain to find
