    Fuel Vent LInes
    Anyone have any good pics on how you vented your header tank?  I have a Merle Williams triangular aluminum behind the seat.  Do you run a line back up to both wing tanks (I have one 6.6 gal each wing), or only to one?  Or something else?

    Yep, it is hinged and I will keep that in mind.  Definetly don't want any ingress in case I get caught in the rain somewhere.
     
    Yes, that this the new shop.  Just finished the exterior last year.  Interior finish has been delayed a bit until the bird is done.  It was supposed to be the other way around, but my wife is half way through flight training now and is itchin to she this bird ready to go.

    Getting close now, here are a few pics of the progress. It is actually a darker red/maroon (Sante Fe Red) but shows more pinkish in the pics for some reason.

    Yep, I have a manual for a Model III, however is is quite sparse in this regard, and indicates they may need to be bent.  My elevator was pre-bent, but the other two are not.  Definetly need to be bent to arrive at seat pan clearance.

    Bending Control Rods
    Any suggestions on location (distance from the front of the rod) and extent (angle) /method for bending the control rods under the seat pan?
     
    Looks like all three should be bent (to accomodate the seat pan etc.)?
     
    Figure I really only have one shot at this to get it right so thought I would ask.

    You guys are great thanks.  Great pics.  Only one slot then it looks like (assume the outboard belts go around external to the pan?
     
    By belts are the 4 point Hookers as well.

    Seat Belt and Seat Pan Routing (Kitfox III)
    Before I start choping my seat pan to start passing through seat belts, thought I would look to see if anyone has pics available.  Things seems a bit nebulous.
     
    Anyone have a good shot of the slots they cut in thier seat pan?  Also any shots showing the seat belts passing through from the back side (turtledeck view) would be of great help.

    Metric AN bolting (Engine Mount)?
    Is there a source for metric AN bolting?  The bolts used on my engine mount (side mount Rotax 582) are grade 10.9 and metric.  One of the local EAA Tech Counselors has seen AW inspections not pass recently if engine mounts bolts are not AN.  Not sure about this, but want to see if anyone knows more details.
     
    1.  Is AN bolting required for an engine mount, or can I used the 10.9 bolting?
     
    2.  If AN bolting is required, anyone know a source?

    I am checking my gear alignment and find I have some toe out.  Is there a criteria for this (max allowable)?

    Brake Build Question
    I am putting together the brakes on a model III and have a question regarding a need for clearance between the caliper mount and the allen head screws which attach everything to the gear. Below are a few pics. The interference blocks about 1/2 of the ultimate travel. Maybe this is not needed? Does the install look correct?

    Are doors required for AW inspection
    Looks like my last item to finish will end up being the doors (need to modify them for the wide body kit mod.
     
    I know you can fly without doors on these birds.  If time becomes critical can you go through the AW inspection without doors installed?

    "To paint or not to paint" - Faperon Hinges
    Any feedback on appearance or function with regard to painting the flaperon brackets (the ones that are part of the flaperon and have the shaft pivot.  They appear cad plated from what I can tell.
     
    Are these usually left bright or painted?

    Would this be different than the factor plate (or what I think is an antenna plate)?  I have 2, OEM install, one on top, just aft of the turtle deck and one on the bottom just aft of the cockpit on the pilots side.

    Top Covering (Model III)
    Ready to cover the top of the fuselage and have a question. The manual indicates to cover all the way up to the bar which the seatbelts attach to (centerline attach point on the fuselage).

    Question is, any reason to go that far? Why not just stop at the bar where the aft end of the turtle deck attaches to. Would like to have the additional access to the fusalage (if ever needed).

    Any feedback on one way vs the other?

    Covering Fuselage - two sides at once?
    Covering the fuselage this weekend (finally).  One of the folks in our EAA chapter suggested covering the bottom and one side all in one shot (one piece of fabric). Then the top and side with another piece.  Two pieces vice the four suggested in the Kitfox manual.
     
    Any feedback on this? Kinda makes sense, but want to make sure I am not missing anything here.  It is a KFIII.
