Ha I bought one of those years ago, I never did stick it in a plane, only because I trusted the tiny tach and went that wrought, but I did stick the cheaper one  on my lawn mower and it worked great, never had any issues,

Ah I don't believe that, with the amount of money, space, and tooling that kitfox has they would be foolish to buy another business that really isn't  there compitation, If kitfox wanted to support the older kitfoxs and avids they would have been doing it many years ago, and also if they wanted to make a copy of the airdale, I'm sure they could,

Got her done tonight took a while to heat it up with using only Map Gas. got it to the real dull color red which according to the color charts is 900 to 1000 degrees worked it all nice and evenly, then pulled the torch back and slowly took it away in steps, then quickly laid foil over it and wrapped the whole heated area in fiberglass insulation, very slow to cool. I feel good about the procedure, the tubes are 7/8 .049  should hold at 1050lbs

that Nylo flo stuff that I used measures .188 OD I would guess those fittings would compress down  to match your .160 tubing, just a thought, buy one and try it

proper way to stress relief welds
does anybody here know to to perform this with a torch, I think if I read everything correctly it looks like you warm up the areas you weld to 900 to 1200 degrees and let them cool very slowly in still air, that is supposedly the way to stop a welded joint from cracking, am I right on this, it really doesn't sound to hard,

finished up my wing struts, still wondering if I should stress relief them with a torch or not, Not sure if that is necessary on thin walled tubing, what you guys think? I know i didn't get them real hot with the mig, short shots with the trigger Just enough for good penetration,

    Someting weird with my brakes?
So I have had mineral brake fluid in my brakes for the whole winter and you can see the nice red tint in all my brake lines, so today I let the plane sit on my driveway while I was building my wing struts and when I pulled it back inside it looks like my brake lines are empty, the brakes still work fine doesn't seem like there is any air in the lines and no fluid leaks, does this stuff bleach out or something? they looked nice and red before I pushed it outside.

Well if your gonna get a tig make sure you spend the extra money and get one that pulses at 33 times per second, I didn't and went the cheap way and wish I hadn't, I barley ever use the tig but when I start my aluminum door frames I will be glad I have it.
