  1. Avid Mark IV Heavy Hauler project for sale.  Nearly complete.  Grove gear, Whirlwind prop, Scott tailwheel, 100 hp Stratus EA81 engine.  Comes with brand-new custom, open trailer to haul it!  This project came from a hangar purchase from an estate sale.  I know nothing about the plane but do understand it was undergoing taxi tests when the previous owner passed.  $20k or best offer.

  2. I am looking building a set of speed wings for my Avid Mk IV s/n 1492.  In 94 I built my heavy hauler wings with the fiberglass tanks that came apart and contaminated my fuel, then I went to the poly tanks but there is a lot of unuseable fuel etc. etc.
Does anybody have a speedwing rib I can trace or can somebody do a full wing trace?  My plan was to draw the airfoil on CAD and waterjet cut the rib centers, make a wing jig and glue up the cap strips.
    Anybody help?

  3. I've had a soft brake issue which necessitates some speed to get the tailwheel to break over for tight turns.  I got a little impatient the other day and got a little too much speed before slamming on the left brake, causing a right wingtip strike when I tipped as I ran off the side grade of our strip.  It took about 5 seconds for it to finally tip over and bounce back (almost saved it!), but, as you can see, I damaged the last flaperon hinge, slightly bent the flaperon, and damaged the fiberglass/foam in the wingtip.
I'd just like some suggestions about the least invasive way to repair the damage.  I've uploaded one video and two photos.  I'm guessing it requires opening up the wingtip and replacing the entire rib, but am new to fabric and thought I'd ask the experts.  Thanks for the help guys!

  4. Hi, I just bought an Avid Mark IV with a 582 and am about to make take my first flight.  I've been doing a lot of taxiing since I don't have any tail-wheel time and am comfortable so far.
Can anyone tell me what the operating temps should read, CH and water temp?  Also What should my approach speed be for landing and flare?  What is the stall speed?
The previous owner said he flew by "feel" and never looked at the gauges.
    Thanks
