Roy what sort of "project" are you looking for? A complete kit, repair, rebuild, ect? There's a sweet MKIV on Barnstormers and Ebay right for cheap that was ground looped. Needs some tube and fabric repair but didn't look too terrible.

Roy

I have an Avid Flyer project for sale in Portland, Oregon for $4,800.

Everything FWB is included except for covering.

It includes a VW with PSRU, but no engine mount or propeller.

The airplane has been flown, has an A/W certificate and had registration numbers.

The person completing this airplane could use the existing A/W certificate.

If the DAR will agree, new A/W and repairman certificates could be issued and then the new owner could perform their own annual condition inspections.

I am the third owner of the airplane.

Airplane includes hydraulic brakes and strobes

Instrumentation includes:

Radio, transponder, air speed, altimeter, slip ball, tach, water temperature, EGT, voltmeter, hobbs meter, ELT

To my knowledge this is the situation regarding the airplane:

The original owner used a Rotax 582

The second owner did the following:

Stripped the plane for recovering

Bought a new wing and landing gear

Built the replacement wing

Modified the stabilizer and elevators to be the same as a MK4

Removed the model B offset from the vertical fin

Bought a MK4 rudder

Bought a model C engine cowl

Built an engine mount for a Jabiru 2200

Serial number 352

Manual calls it a model B

The original wing is a model B with a gas tank

The wing struts are model B

The fuselage is a model C

The new wing is a model C with a gas tank

The tail feathers are MK4

Model B and model C engine cowls

VW engine

1775 cc (90.5 mm bore x 69 mm stroke)

Single ignition, distributor

Electric starter

Diehl back case and alternator

1.74:1 belt PSRU

I'm finishing up a Grumman AA1-B project soon...as in the next couple months...hopefully. It's been my magic carpet for a long time. I've enjoyed the speed, simple joy of a sweet handling inexpensive way to fly. I'm finishing a restore of the whole airplane, engine and airframe. Time to pass it along to some one who appreciates what it has to offer. My flying "wants" have changed and the where, when and how I fly has changed as well. I like "boony" flying these days. dropping in at the local or not so local lake or river retreat, searching for the wild horse herds or watching the wolves run. Hard to do in my little AA1-B. So I'm looking for a way to satisfy that kind of flying. I'll be putting the Grumman up for sale or trade as soon as it's finished and am looking for an aircraft that has flight characteristics more like bush flying than fast A to B flying.

Looks like an interesting project. I'm planning to be heading your direction within weeks to visit relatives. It it's still available I'd like to look it over. I'm not well educated on the specifics of the Avid so will need to do some research about what works and what doesn't. Any help in getting me smarter would be welcome.
