3rd Annual Silver Salmon Creek Flyout

Man I'm loving all these posts lately.  I am having a hard time keeping up with them all and still get in the required dose of flying though.  Just had to do another 50 hour oil change since May.

 

Last weekend we did the 3rd annual trip to Silver Salmon Creek with the loose mix of planes and drivers; all great airplane folks .  The weather was nice on Friday and had inlet fog Saturday but not too  thick so the sun could still get through and it disipated as it got inland.  Fishing was early for Silvers but had a lot of sea run dollies and pinks.  Had a few of the commercial operators land on the beach since the LS at the lodge was fogged in.

 

 As always, plenty of bears.  Man those things can smell the fish guts.  You have to clean them fast (on the beach) and get out of the way.  Funny how the out of state visitors can't figure out why everyone is wearing a gun. 

 

Was beginning to think we might be staying another night but around 6:00 PM ithe fog thinned enough for us VFR weanies and we blasted off for home.  It was a great trip, good relaxation and good company.

 

Checked out the Kustitan on the way back, supposed to be good silvers fishing there too, hmmmm...

Did you ever hit the kusty for silvers? I never even hit it this year after you showed me your super not so secret hole. I like the white sand beaches much better at your spot!

I never did get back there to try it Leni.  The McArthur was doing great this year and I really like it too.  Besides it is closer.
