More Flying and Fishing Fun McArthur River Alaska

Me and Randy have had a blast the last couple days fishing at the McArthur river and low level flying of the river looking for schools of fish.  In the video Randy sneaks underneath my plane.  If you look careful you can see him looking up trying to take a picture underneath my airplane.  It takes a minute for him to show up in video.  We limited out both days of fishing with very nice Silver Salmon.  Nice sandy beach makes for a Hawaii type vacation on a hot day minus the palm trees but plus moose, bears, salmon, wolverines, etc.  Randy's 30 inch bush tires really make a difference on that sand.  I am still trying to talk him out of his 26 inch bush tires.

I got a very noticeable increase in elevator authority when doing a power on stall or dragging it in under power when landing short. It helps keep the aiar from dumping out through the crack. One of the Cheapest, Easiest, most effective mod out there. Try it with painters tape and if you don't notice any change just peel it off but I think you'll be going looking for some duct tape after you try it.

I put a piece on top and bottom, stuck together in the gap.  It makes sort of an H shape.  It doesn't cause a bend or disrupt the airflow with the elevator up or down.

I did the same, using yellow duct tape because it is almost a spot on color match.  

 

I'd look to see if you can find some red duct tape or at some places they call "racing tape".

They make clear duct tape too. It's not totally clear as you can kind of see the reinforcing fibers in it but that's what I used. Just move the elevator full down and put it on top and then move it full up and put it on the bottom. Just cut a notch out around the hinges.
