Spark Plug boots:  I have been running NGK boots from "Fleet Farm" for years on Rotax engines with no ill effects.  I think these are $3-4 each.  Same exact part as the ones from Rotax.

The Rotax oil filter has a very high pressure bypass valve.  From the testing that LEAF did on all the filters they found that fit (Purolater, Fram, Douglass, WIX and a couple others), the bypass were all much lower pressure.  Meaning that the high pressure operations of a 912 (compared to the commercial engines the other filters are for) will usually bypass these filters, rendering them useless at most times.  IMO, I have a $10k engine, that I trust my life to.  I'm not going cheap on the oil filter.

Rotax 912 engines do not have thermostats.

I've built a new expansion tank for the Mangy Fox that uses a normal "mini" radiator cap (16 psi) for $16 rather than the $90 Rotax unit.  I got the neck and cap from Summit Racing.  Cap  Neck
