"To paint or not to paint" - Faperon Hinges

Any feedback on appearance or function with regard to painting the flaperon brackets (the ones that are part of the flaperon and have the shaft pivot.  They appear cad plated from what I can tell.

Are these usually left bright or painted?

On the early Kitfox, these were plain metal and painted - I wonder if paint might peal off of the plated ones - I think I would tape them when painting the flaperons unless you know how to paint plated metal.

Nothing looks worse than spotted, pealing paint.

Ours are also cad plated and we taped them off before paint, i agree with Ed they don't need paint with the cad plating and they look better than they will later on with flaking paint. just my .02

Mine have the lovely flaking paint trailer trash look.  So if thats what you're going for I see no other way than painting them.
