Yeh, it's a shame that our F-16, F-18, pilots, and others, don't have taildraggers to train in, like we had!

Then, they could be GREAT PILOTS, just like us!

It wont back up, but the NSI Subaru prop just keeps spinning after engine shutdown, and you can claim its a Turbo!

Some time ago I watched a video promoting a device developed for amphibs that seemed to reverse the prop rotation. I assumed it was for braking or maneuvering from a dock. I didn't think it to be very practical.

Trust me, those reversing props are a VERY desirable feature on float planes. I have a few friends with them on their SeaBees, blew my mind the first time I saw one backing up away from a dock.

Husky just approved the MT reversing prop for float operations.

Lou,

Many years ago, I spent some time in the cockpit of a MU2, with Turboprop engines, the thrust reverser just changed the pitch of the blades to "Beta", for reversing thrust, but the blades do not reverse rotation.  Its sort of like putting left-turning blades on a right-turning engine, if you get what I mean.

Thanks Ed. I had thought about that possibility also.

Thanks for the video. Very impressive.

When I said "not very practical" I had been thinking about SEL craft.

Stopping distance is decreased - very practical to have reverse thrust - Just like the Big Boys Toys!  Ha!

...your wallet, plus a sizable chunk from your favorite lending institution.
