Anyone know the Tiny Tach crank setting for a 582?  180 Degrees maybe?

582 fires twice per revolution, if that's what you're asking.   Jim Chuk

Yep, you guessed it. Be sure to wrap both wires to the cylinder so you can do mag checks by RPM, not just your ear.

Thanks.  It is a back-up to the original tach.  Want to do a cross check.

Mine was WAY off. I was leaving 25% of my horsepower on the table by over pitching my prop the first 20 hrs I flew my plane. I was only turning 5700 rpm on a full power static run. The first time I took off at a real 6500 rpm I thought I was in a rocket ship!!

I had three Tachs in my KF4... OEM Rotax, E-1 EMS and TinyTach. They would get pretty close at certain RPM's, but they never matched perfectly. IIRC, got more accurate as RPM increased. Mine did not do it but I know the Rotax tachs for 912ul were often very jumpy above about 4500 rpm or so. There is a Rotax SB on it.

Mine showed roughly 300 RPM difference across the board (the OEM tach indicating 300 RPM higher than the Tiny Tach).

Am I reading this correctly from Spruce, that the tiny tach has a non-replaceable battery?  How long does it last?  What do you do when the battery is done - Buy another tiny tach?

It does seem a shame and inconvenience to throw away the whole unit just for the sake of a 50cent battery,                                      Perhaps someday we may see a "similar" unit from another source with a user replaceable battery, who wouldn't buy one!

I run two tiny tachs ,one is three the other is four years old, five year life?

Ed I've had mine for 2 engines and 6 years. It's still working fine.  Think I got my $45 worth.

What would the correct degree setting be on a 912 then for the Tiny Tach?
