PREPING ALUMINUM SHEET

Has anyone used an aluminum conversion coating other than Alumi-prep and Alodine before painting?  Winter has caught up with me and I have some large sheets that need to be prepped, and cant wash them with water outside - or inside.

Thought of that, but the yellow-green grout might be noticed!   Got lots of other stuff to do this winter anyway...
