This is a friend of mine's car. It belonged to his dad, was all original, and had quite a history... Then is wife wrecked it. Then he went nuts and put a wide body kit on it. Well kind of. He hired me (back when I had a body shop) to finish and paint it. We even pulled the 2L engine out and put rings and did the valves. The car cornered like it was on rails. But you had to use momentum to really drive the car.

So still unhappy with the end result and he came up with this...

It has a Subie turbo in it, he redid the head lights, and.... IT IS WICKED!!! 5 grand at 100mph in 4th. With a 6500 redline, I see 150 at least top speed!!!

BTW, I got it to 100 three times... He said he only had it over 100 once!!! LOL!!! I want to build one now!!!

Humph.  The total destruction of a once fine automobile.  Or so say I.  Still, I know it's fun to tinker and the sheet metal probably would not have been much good after the wifely crash.  Not many of them left.  The 1.7 was the better engine.

Yea, it was a total. There are a lot of people repowering them with Subies.

Excuse my ancient ignorance - but what kind of road-coffin is or was that?

I've got a spare stock Soob engine with 31K original miles on it.

'73 or 4? Nice guess! Oh it has 911 brakes too. That is one thing cool about those cars. All or most of the parts will swap out with little effort. I can put a mid '80s engine in my '72 911 if I wanted.
