Those Rotax C Gear box clutches dont hold up to the 92hp of a 670. They're good to the 65hp of the 582, but anything more than 100hp, the clutches have proven to be the weak link and wont hold the power.

I was going to put the clutch in my 92hp Rotax Rick 670 and was talked out of it by Rick.  I like the idea of less wear and tear on the gear box with the clutch and was willing to throw $500 into the new 670 build, but I was talked out of the clutch.

That engine is probably making that much hp at a lower rpm than the RX1. The clutch as with any centrifugal clutch grips harder the faster you turn it.

image.thumb.jpeg.a7325f4d86cbf3da9eafeb9image.thumb.jpeg.6cad95a280de047a33c7583Yamaha just released the 2017 factory TURBO version of the 3 cylinder motor. I hope you can get a mount together that is as nice as the one you have for the Yamaha 4 cylinder RX1.  It will take 1-2 years before the prices come around on one of these wrecked or salvaged snowmobiles

180hp may be out of the Rotax C gear box range.

Way to complicated. All that electronic crap waiting to put you into the bush.

Single ECM.  Single ignition.  Fault either one and game over.

Lots of eggs in those two baskets...

Beyond that, these engines show a lot of promise in my opinion.  There is also the Rotax 600 or 900 Ace engines in the wings, too.  These could be a very viable option against the 582.

hahahah

I'm not sure how many failures youve had in you cars ECU since 1994, but my EFI and ECU's have been pretty bullet proof for 2 decades and a million miles now.  But, shoot, what does the industry know after 30 years of cumputers and fuel injection in cars.

May I introduce a new disorder that I've never encountered until I started looking at buying a plane and getting involved in the aviation community.

I have had both ECU and EFI failures on cars that rendered it incapacitated.  They can and do fail.

Also take into account these are NOT factory installations.  These are modifications on factory designs.  There are many, many more variables introduced when using an engine system outside of it's design parameters.

As I have said before, engine choices are all about your risk tolerance.  If you are willing to gamble your and your passengers life on things like single point engine controls, more power to you.

I'm not.  I guess that makes me an old white man.

You need to get out on a snow machine and have it quit. I have personal experience with a friends four stroke Yamaha phaser. Ignition does fail. You accusing me of being old?

OWMS effects thinking men of all ages, it does not discriminate.

The DSM-5 actually speaks to fuddy dutty thinking without a basis more than it speaks to the age of those inflicted with the disease.

All of this new-fangled unproven stuff makes me want to go find a C-75.  I flew one for hundreds of hours with no problems.

Can't argue with that.

But, I'd prefer a O235 over a Conti, though…  poking-with-stick-smiley-emoticon.gif

This is what that motor should sound like. Clean and crisp with zero lope.  I have a feeling he needs to have those injectors ultrasonic cleaned. They're probably gummed up from sitting for years

Some guy comes on Saturday morning and cuts my neighbor's grass with some kind of big 2-stroke mower - That thing just sounds terrible!   The guy driving it has to wear ear muffs for protection!

I think I will talk to the Mayor about banning them!    EDMO
