@Joey -

I'll have to add up all the invoices I have on my kits, was somewhere in the mid 20's I think.

$17,961.90 = original invoice cost for Kitfox III Kit (includes Kits 1-5, plus a bunch of options which I will detail later)

$  6,331.43 = original invoice cost for KF-III to KF-IV Upgrade Kit

_________

$24,293.33 = Total cost of both kits

---UPDATE---

Quite a job but I scanned 100+ pages related to these kits into pdf files to post here. Hopefully that will provide the details potential buyers have been asking for, as well as a resource for kit and part numbers for everyone else.

First up is the original invoice for Kitfox III, s/n 1017 showing Primary Kits 1-5 plus any additional Optional Items ordered.

I follow this up with the individual Parts List breakdown for each Primary and Optional Kit.

(Key: Green Dot on Parts Lists means I inventoried the item as present. Green Dash means item is missing. A few items with neither Dot nor Dash but noted as Shipped by Denney/Skystar have yet to be physically inventoried or, in the case of hardware, was used to put the fuselage on it's gear.)

I've had questions on the engine and its condition. S/N is 3971311. Like both kits, it was purchased new and never used. It is in excellent condition having spent its entire life in a heated hangar. Absolutely no sign of rust in the cylinders as the pics show. There is (1) mandatory Service Bulletin noted on the Rotax-Owner.com lookup, checking for broken exhaust springs.

I see in the pics of the fuel tank kit you have the same shut off valves that I am using, I took mine apart and ran a reamer through them since they only have a 1/8" hole in them, I opened them up to a 1/4" anybody else use these shut off valves, do they work good,

Just a heads up, the kits are now sorted out and listed on Barnstormers.

Doug, did you ever settle on a price for it all? I see you didn't post one on the Barnstormer ad either. Good luck with the sale. I would have loved to buy a kit from you, but I'm still trying to sell the Sonerai. Instead I keep buying stuff for the build.

Kenneth,

Yep, I saw your eBay listing. I was going to post my kits there too until I noticed they have gone to 10% + other fees. Been a while since I sold anything there but it sure as heck wasn't that expensive back then.

Actually, I didn't want to put one price for the lot on BS because I thought some folks might think both kits had to sell together. Instead, I put separate descriptions and prices in the Spec/Inventory pages. The end of the ad said "Please read detailed Spec/Inventory pages.". Maybe that wasn't such a good idea in hindsight, too easy to miss?

And, yes I am flexible on price and yes I will reconfigure to provide a 'complete' vs. 'upgrade' Model 4 Kit. Phone # is in the ad if anyone wants to discuss.

[edit] Well I had a few other calls asking about price so, for whatever reason, folks just weren't seeing or opening the Spec or Inventory Pages. I went back and changed the ad to read: For details/price click Spec/Inventory pg. Hopefully that will stand out a bit better.

Doug, I don't know where you saw the 10% on ebay fees. For aircraft it's a flat listing fee unless it sells. If it was 10% I missed that all together. Which is highly possible. Basically it cost me $20 to post it up because I had a buy it now and a reserve on the listing. It didn't even get close to what I needed to break even so I'm back to building again. I've realized I probably can't afford to ever get this plane certificated though. The DAR fees here in New Jersey are crazy and who knows how long it would take for the FSDO to send someone out. Still that is all a long ways down the road.

Good luck selling the kit(s) and pieces. Wish I could actually give you a reasonable offer for a complete set. I already have two airplanes in the house and we know we'll be moving again in two years or less.

Now I need to revisit this eBay fee thing. I just Googled fees for a eBay Motors auction style listing and it showed a max 'Successful Listing Fee' of $125. When I started a listing and selected Experimental Aircraft > Kit it used 10% with a max of $750, which looks like standard category listing fees. Huge difference, think I'll try again in Motor Vehicles. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey Doug, this deal on the Kitfox 3 sounds pretty good.  I sure don't need another project, but it got me thinking.  Motor and all, it's not a bad price.   Better not though..... Jim Chuk

G'morning gents.

Jim, thanks for the bump. These kits are complete and truly are in 'like new' condition, just as originally received from Denney Aerocraft and Skystar. Kind of amazing really when you think about it, and one hell of an opportunity for someone looking to build a new Kitfox. I know the price is right, just need to find 'that guy'.

I should probably add the most common question I receive is "how much if I want to buy/build as a Kitfox model 4"?

Due to the improved fuselage, flaperon control system and wings plus continuing support from the current Kitfox aircraft company, I feel a $1000 premium over the KF3 price is fair. All other things being equal, a KF4 will command that and more over a KF3 in the resale market in my experience.

Therefore, after taking into consideration the KF3 Kit $1000 price reduction just posted, I would sell everything (both the complete KF3 Kit with engine and complete KF4 Upgrade Kit plus all Factory Option Kits from each) LESS the duplicate and/or unnecessary parts not required for the model 4 build (more specifically the KF3 fuselage, wing and behind the seat storage compartments Kits, engine mount, top rear cowl piece, windshield, turtledeck and a handful of parts in the KF4 control system retrofit Kit. Just so there is no confusion, there is a KF4 specific engine mount, top rear cowl piece, windshield and turtledeck) for $8,500 + $1,000 premium = $9,500.

So basically, a brand new, complete Kitfox 4 Kit w/ new Rotax 582LC FWF and a TON of great Factory Options, all original purchase records, build, operating and maintenance manuals etc. exactly as received from the manufacturer for only $9,500. And don't forget the FREE delivery if it's on my way to OSH during AirVenture. Yeah, try that for the same package from Kitfox Aircraft today! ;)

[edit] P.S. - Hey Jim, you know you want to go to AirVenture this year... :BC::BC::BC:
