Original Avid Floats

Hello,

I have the original Avid fiberglass floats and I have not seen much history discussed about these.  How reliable are they?  Any history of failures with these?

Thanks

I have heard pretty good things about these but have never flown them.  I keep trying to get Bob to let me try his out

One negative I've heard is if any water seeps in due to cracking, the foam core becomes waterlogged and is a real P.I.T.A. to dry out. Best way to tell if they have ever been affected is to weigh them.

The floats have never been in air and stored inside. When I pick them up with rigging they feel pretty light so no water logging.

I bought the set from Jim, I haven't got them on the plane yet.  I have the water rudders, but no rigging.  If you can take some pictures of the rigging, I'd appreciate it, I have to fabricate some for mine.
