I finally got around to going through my Osh pics and trying to pick out some of the better ones. I left Sacramento on a red eye on the 31st and arrived on the grounds around 9am on Monday. This year I camped with Doug (DHolly) Before I go any further a BIG THANKYOU to Doug for taking care of the straglers who flew in commercial. His hospitality tent is top notch!. There's really no way to describe Osh if you have never been. I met up with a lot of old friends and also met some new ones. Friday Larry (Av8er3400) hosted a BBQ at his place. We had a really good turn out and it's always neat to put faces to names. Before I knew it, it was sunday morning and time to head home. These are mostly just some random pics that I had to pick out from about 500. Hope you like them. If you took any pics while there please share!!

There was 4 full rows of 190/195's this year. Such a beautiful design!

Good pix, Joey.  Here's a couple more.

I shot the same Cruiser as you, Joey.  I was interested in it because that is the plane that Dave (Sputzee Avid-Kitfox builder) is currently building.

Mangy was in the house...

Saturday morning they launched the balloons for the first time in many, many years.  The wind has to be perfect and that doesn't happen often.

Julie (my wife) caught this sunset from the camper.  Awesome.

Blah, blah, blah.   Heard that one before.

Youre just scared of the pure awesomeness of being woke up every morning by the sweet music of a Rolls-Royce Merlin or six.

Well, another one in the books. Through the first 6 days there were ~14,300 aircraft movements at Wittman Regional Airport, allowing it to continue its claim as the busiest airport in the world. It just never gets old and these guys put up some good pics to prove it. I didn't take too many this year but here's a few off my phone.

Illinois road construction, tolls and that gawd-awful Chicago stop 'n go traffic S-U-C-K-B-A-L-L-S...

Here's a nice shot of the Martin Mars before Snaps just about sunk it...

This Aerotrek owner has got it figured out, super nice matching motorhome!

This 'puck'-style gear was interesting and performed well according to the owner

Here's one of teal's Yamaha RX-1 adapter plates on a PPC, note the airbox was modified to lower the carb intakes...

Sure wish Kitfox would bring this big, beautiful beast down to the S.T.O.L. demos someday... ;)

Some of these old Warbird restorations are magnificent, love the different nose art and stories behind it...

Many nice quality pieces on the new Rans kits, also notice the 2-pc spring gear design...

One of the week's 'big planes' was a Cathay Pacific 747-8 Cargo Freighter. Impressive takeoff and climb empty, look how high by the end of the runway. They circled the field once and exited the pattern at over 6000'...

The week was not without incident. On Monday the A-26 Invader "Silver Dragon" suffered a nose gear collapse on landing right in front of my camp. The crew had already executed a go around after hearing a pop while cycling the gear, and orbited to troubleshoot the problem. Eventually the decision was made to land on runway 36. VIDEO LINK.

Earlier, just a stones throw away, this approach stall lawn dart (miraculously) resulted in only minor injury to the pilot...

This old bird went down in almost the same spot, narrowly missing the Amphib parking/camping area...

While the guys were checking the Flight Lines, the girls were checking their TAN LINES, oh my!

Doug, I told you the extra distance to go over to I-39 would be worth it.  That intersection in your picture is just about the worst place to be in the world, except maybe where 90 and 94 split again on the north side....

Road closure detours and the F'n asshat maniacs that couldn't be bothered to let my little truck and trailer over left me no other choice on the way in. I'm no shrinking violet behind the wheel but all road manners and a whole lot of human decency go straight out the window within 20mi. of that city I swear. Drivers have zero regard for other's lives, let alone vehicles. Karma is a bitch and I hope that when they get theirs it smells just like the Zoo cage floor that filthy town resembles. Rest assured, my departure around went much better.

No argument from me.  I hated driving in Chicago.  Finally figured out the only way that worked was to just start changing lanes.  They could get out of the way, or not.  Sometimes I'd have been ok with not.  I was from Illinois, not Chicago.  Nobody hates Chicago more than the rest of Illinois!
