Hey all,

With great regret, I need to list my Kitfox for sale.  After speaking with a couple of CFII's in my area, to get a PPL in the kitfox will be a challenge/expense that I don't know if I am willing to undertake. So at this point, I need to sell the kitfox to fund a 150.  Or if you know of anyone who is looking to trade a 150 for a kitfox, please send them my way.  once I get the PPL and get hours in the logbook, I will revisit the kitfox world but till then it's going to be a 150 for me.

The plane is out of annual and is located in Central New Jersey

Some specs:

- I have all logs and airworthy cert from the original builder

-215 TTAF

- HKS 700e motor (~100 Hrs on the engine and it has 1000 TBO)

- New Powerfin prop (2 blade)

- Duel rudder pedals with toe brakes

-whelen strobes and taxi lights

-grove main landing gear

-maule rear

- landing lights

- I have all paperwork

Shoot me some offers (I would like to get into a 150 sooner rather then later ) ;)

I can be reached at d_matlosz@yahoo.com or via cell/text 908-875-4939

What is holding up the registration?  I see you applied for it in April?  What is the serial # on the engine?  When was the last annual conditional inspection done?   JImChuk

The transfer paperwork had a line thru on it which the FAA wasn't happy with so I had to resubmit. FAA is behind on paperwork at the moment so I'm just waiting for a review and website update.

serial number on the engine is 101152

annual was done in 2010 and has been sitting in a hanger ever since

Isnt this the bird that used to be at Edinburg, NY (1F2)?  If I recall correctly this was a Speedster?   Quality of construction was real nice back then (also when it changed from a 582 to the HKS).

Selling a Kitfox for a 150 is the most insane thing I've EVER heard!!!!! An oil change at the shop on that POS 150 will cost you more than an entire year of maintenance on a Kitfox. Go find a different CFI or a flight school that flies 150's and get your PPL and then transition to the Kitfox. A kitfox will literally fly circles around a 150...Please don't waste your time!!!

I can only agree... you have been given some questionable advice. Sounds like they would have an financial interest in what they propose or have some aversion to cool experimental airplanes. As suggested above, get a second opinion from a different CFI or flight school. Maybe someone on this list can suggest a more open minded CFI in your area.
It is always so easy to explain why things are difficult or impossible...

Please, please, please, find a different flight school or instructor.

A Kitfox makes a great trainer.  You will learn and master all the proper habits and you will become a superior pilot.  This instructor is just plain lazy.  He wants you in an easy airplane so he doesn't have to work.

Sounds like you need to find a CFI who REALLY likes to fly.

I'm in New Jersey and a CFI. I agree with everything above. The CFI's in your area are just lazy or afraid of the aircraft. Shoot me a PM with your location and a way to get a hold of you. I may be willing to work with you to get your PPL in the Kitfox. Don't go to the certified side if money is an issue at all. It would be well worth more of your time and money now to get it and keep the Kitfox, versus paying for maintenance later with a Cessna or other certified aircraft.
