Posted 27 May 2017 Well, I have my 582 to the point where it has all the fluids and I can run the starter. I hooked up the oil injection and bled the system by removing the bleeder bolt. I would have thought I could just turn over the engine and I should see oil start to creep up the oil injection lines, but I am not. Is this a valid test or is the pump slow enough that the engine needs to be running for a bit before I will see oil in the injection lines?TIA
Posted 27 May 2017 The starter won't spin the engine fast enough to pump hardly any oil. The engine needs to be running to test for oil in the injection lines. It is recommended to mix oil with the first tank of fuel at 100:1 when first installing an oil injection pump to assure lubrication in case of air in the lines or a faulty pump. Make a mark on the oil tank then go fly for an hour and refill fuel and oil to the level before the flight so you can calculate the fuel/oil used. It should be between 50:1 and 80:1 2 people like this
Posted 28 May 2017 Appreciate it, once I got the engine running the oil started coming up.
