I got mine as a flying project . It's ugly but it flies . Someone who owned it painted it with a brush and house paint at some point. Now with the new nose it definitely needs paint

Mine was a flying project too, the only good thing was the blue 582 with 202 hrs since new and opened for inspection at 200 hrs personally seen from an official Rotax mechanic (prevous owner is a friend of mine so i was there).

Depending on how hot and humid really . It's usually just drying faster that's about it. I have to paint often so I'm used to painting in the heat .

Looks great! I noticed that your Avid does not have the fuselage strengthening modification that was required in the UK. Would be good information for anyone with the fabric covering off to add, IMHO. Attached is the (rather crude) drawing I received from the UK Avid kit importer showing the changes mandated. Takes a bit to understand the drawing, but there were two additional struts from the behind the seat back cluster to the lower side fuselage longerons and vertical bracing on the tubing over the fuselage lift strut brackets. I also see that your flaperon control mixer does not have the adverse yaw reducing F7-a modification. That would be a relatively simple fabrication to add.

Edit: spelling + pic!

Where did you attach the drawing Doug?  I don't see it.  (with either eye)  :-)   JImChuk

Why that structural modification?

I believe the UK Civil Aviation Authority required the modification. I assume they were concerned about the fuselage strength or crumple tendency after investigating an Avid Flyer accident incident. I googled real quick for it but did not find any Airworthiness Directive, did find a Mandatory Permit Directive regarding an elevator stop that I wasn't aware existed.

No clue I haven't seen one I'll have to take a look.  Just looked mine will be darker grey . I'll also have more green with my strut braces and stuff like that the powder coated purple my spinner is.
