Does anyone have a name part number poundage for Avid MK 4 door gas cylinder? Thanks

Someone posted some info on this a while back - ?

I found a post in AvidFoxflyers General Hanger by Joey, (Maybe about page 22), "Post a pic of your gas struts", and it has a couple of pages with some part number and other info about troubles installing them on a Mk IV.  I thought they were about 16 or 19 lbs strength, but don't quote me on that.  Maybe someone has anorher source?   EDMO

I need a set too. I have one door that won't stay open. May as well replace both.

Just did a search and found that the ones that I replaced mine with are from McMaster Carr

gas spring 9416K12

eyelet ends (2) required  per cylinder 9416K84

I ordered the cylinders with a 40lbs but will order at least 50's next time

the gas springs were $13.17 and the ends about $1.53 each.

Mine were on ebay $12.00 for the pair free shipping. They work great and I couldn't be happier with them .

Your welcome . When I did mine I thought 50 was to much because I could barely compress them on the ground but good old geometry made sense.

As you can see I have two different door gas struts on my plane. Both work well. Someone botched the lower mounts on these by trying to weld a bolt to the car style ball. I bought a new set of mounting balls at Autozone for $4.00. I plan to weld up a new set as a winter project.

Your struts are upside down . You want the rod facing down .

I ttuned them around and they won't hold to door up. Seem to work better this way. They may need replaced.

I wanted to post a picture of the gas shocks I recieved. Thanks Chop for the suggestion. These were $12.00 a peice and shipped locally for me. Had them in two days. They have a variety of different strengths. These are 50 pounders. They work very well.
