The spot tracking GPS thing Looks like a really cool item for 150 bucks, Now do you need a pay a yearly fee to use it?  How does it all work. Thanks

I was under the impression you could hit a button and someone on the other end could see that you are still alive.  Also the option for some remote rescue.   I'm curious about this also.   Regards Joe

TJay & Joe,  A long time ago there were several posts from Suberavid, Akflyer & Joey, I believe, telling more about the different ways to use SPOT.  Maybe you can search for those?   I just tie an orange fishing line to my hanger and let it reel out to guide the searchers, or to find my way back!  ;<)  EDMO

Has a yearly fee. Not much. Worth its weight in gold when the wife can watch a long cross country in real time on her phone. 3 different messages 100 characters to 10 people depending on the situation. Works over a year on a couple of AAs.
