Just going through some of my old pictures and have come across my first avid which I rebuilt and had a rotax 582 engine failure after take off on my first solo flight (800 feet) and it was a little bit exciting.  Very sad times

ouch!  Glad you walked away.  I have no love for the 532.  A buddy had one on his model A and I tried for 8 flights on it and for 8 flights it tried to kill me.  It was fine on the ground even during VERY long runups.  In the air I would get to about 400 AGL and it would blow antifreeze all over me.  We did everything one could think of to fix that engine but no joy.

Yeah the 532 is a crap engine and I'm not to keen on the 582 but believe it or not the engine wasn't at fault it was the spring in the radiator cap had broken and it popped off. I did read your report and you are one very very lucky man. I like the videos and keep up the good work
