yeh, they are impressive,  but not everyone likes Moose, except to eat!  Just wait until some big bull walks under a wing and raised his head with those big antlers going thru the covering, or decides to step on the fuselage or tail to get to the other side!  Bet you have seen more of that damage than I have?   I looked out one morning and a moose was eating with its tail backed up against my neighbor's front door - If he had started out he would have had two hooves in his face!  I called him to warn him to go out the garage door to his truck.  Another got tangled up and tore all the Christmas lights off of a neighbor's green tree in the yard.   One stomped a man to death at the college that same year.

Merry Christmas Randy and everyone.  Would you like to see a photo of my yard cats?  Ha!

Oh, I had 6 Whitetail does and a buck in the back yard a week ago, and a big coyote the week before that - 3 skunks too!  "Wild Missouri"!  ;<)   We had reports of black bear and Mountain lion near here this year too, but nothing like Alaska.   EDMO

Went to Maine this past summer for the fun of it and saw lots of Moose Pretty neat animals from a distance. That was the best vacation I ever had I would love to move there.  Food sucked compared to here in beef country but the state was really cool.

Maybe that was because you didn't have any Iowa Corn to wash it down?  ;<)  EDMO

Yep, they make you pretty nervous around the planes for sure!  A good friend of mine (now passed) flew up to the Arctic ocean to watch a native community do a whale harvest (I don't remember the name of the place). Anyway there were two supercubs in great shape when they landed.  The next morning the polar bears had trashed both of them, windows torn out, fabric shreaded, tails and horizontals all bent up.  the only things they really hadn't gotten to with significant damage were the wings.   They ended up having parts and an A&P from Dan's Aircraft in Anchorage to fly up commercial and they spent the next week repairing planes in the daytime and trying to keep the bears off of them at night.  They stored the parts in an old power plant building but it had no doors on it.  The bears even went in there and tore open bags of nuts and bolts and spread them around, but they had stashed the big parts in a place behind an old generator that the bears didn't get to.  Since they couldn't shoot the bears they found that flares seemed to work the best to get them to back off, but they had some real hair raising experiences sleeping in a suburban parked at the planes and waking up to polar bears climbing on the roof and staring at them through the windows, they even ripped the windshield out of a van parked a ways away.  For entertainment the bears would tear up the runway lights every night.  He said he thought they would never see their planes flying again!  When he threatened the local USFWS with shoving a flare in the face of the next bear that stuck its nose in the window, they finally sat there with them the next night and shot a few of the bears with 12ga. popper rounds and it seemed the message went out to the bear community and they didn't get harassed for the last two days.  He said ne was VERY happy to leave that place!

No polar bears where most go.  A big brownie is something to behold.  For tearing shit up and killing a person the blackies are about the worst.  Curious lil devils they are.

Oh, that was Randy that told the story not me
