Thermostat for Rotax 582

Purchased an Avid Flyer with a Rotax 582 in it that was built in Florida. I came to find out that the thermostat was not installed which up in Tennessee makes my water temp hang in the 100-130 range. I can cover up one of my two cheek radiators with some foam to restrict intake but this seems iffy.  Any recommendations for options to control the water temp without installing the thermostat in the block?

I would use the thermostat if at all possible.  They help to prevent cold seizure of the engine.   The only time you want the engine to go quiet is when you turn off the key...  JImChuk

Absolutely run the thermostat like Jim says. Sorry I haven't gotten out to get the nose wheel pictures for you yet, been pretty busy here.

My 582 did not have a thermostat. I purchased a housing off of Ebay because mine did not have provisions for a thermostat. I bought one (housing) off of a 583 snowmobile engine. it came with a thermostat but it was to long in the body and hit an inner casting inside the head. I found one aftermarket but cant remember for the life of me where i ended up getting it from. I think I posted about it on here somewhere. Anyways....it was worth it. I have a small water pressure gauge and you can tell when it opens. Temps come up better also.
