Converting airstream trailer into hauler

If anyone wants the interior of a 73 airstream, lemme know. Its perfect inside. Other than that, im gunna gut it with a HAMMER! Rip all that cheesy plastic crap out and turn it into a catalina hauler. Living quarters up front toy in the rear.

Cool idea!

I wouldn't have thought you could fit a seaplane in something like that.

Post up some pics when you get it all done.  I'd like to see how that works out.

The old airstreams can bring a lot of money to a collector...

Yeah, I was going to say that cutting up an Airstream is almost as sad as the widow parting out the late husband's plane here recently, LOL. Certainly a neat idea, though.

I'm trying to get her to sell the plane without the engine to lessen the liability issue.  Not deregistered yet..... JImChuk

I'm debating whether to deregister the nose-wrecked Kitfox 3 with no engine that I have - probably worth about the same for parts, but sure don't want any liability to take away the $10 I am leaving my widow!   And, if it is deregistered, someone could be the builder instead of the repairer and get the certificate to do their own conditionals.  EDMO

I think you should put a big hinge on the back and make it open up like the nose of C-5...  That would be cool.

It's ok, I'm 25 years old, so  first airstream, first airplane..zero hours flying a fixed wing...zero hours flying seaplane... never assembled an aircraft before. How hard can it be? Haha

Its not hard at all. The hard part is it takes all your time and you need lots patience to finish the job.

Might need some guidance on skinning it...I wish I can wrap it all in aluminum and weld it.

If you can read and follow a poly fiber manual, covering an airplane is not difficult.  JImChuk
