Need a external antenna

Good stuff Chris. I will do some testing with the power supplies this weekend. I have both styles. I have been running the 12 volt clip on battery running off ship power, I also have the battery pack that takes AA's. 

  I ran onto this old article where you guys were discussing the shielding issue. Good read!

Here is a picture I took today of the RG316  single shielded coax and the RG400 double shielded coax side by side. Man what a difference. I have not tried it out yet but this has to make a difference. Another thing I did was added a ferrite choke to the incoming power cord to the radio. This was a suggestion from a friend. I had one laying around the shop so I figured it was worth a try.  I hope to try the radio out this week. Now that I’m about ready the temporary tower at our field will most likely be leaving soon. It started raining here today. It’s a must needed break from all the fires in our side of the world.
