Anyone running a Viking/Honda 110hp engine in a Kitfox or Avid?

Is anyone on the forum running a Viking/Honda powered Kitfox or Avid? It is the 110hp 4 cylinder with a gear drive setup. It has an aluminum block and head. It is fuel injected with coil on plug.

It may be a more resonable alternative to a 912.

Is there any downside to this setup?

178-210lbs? For just the engine? I haven't found the exact number yet.

I found an old post on Google relating to this subject. It doesn't sound like there were many flying in 2015. Has anyone seen one flying yet?

A guy in the EAA chapter I was in had a Viking 110 in a Sonex that he was building. He was really excited about the engine and was saying the Viking 130 has even more power with similar weight. As Ronin commented though, I think the disadvantage is weight. Isn't the 912 bare engine weight closer to 130 lbs?

I spoke to a gyro guy that installed one and he thought the installed weight was closer to #230/240. And then there is Jan.

My neighbor/friend/pilot/older gentleman was building a Just AC Highlander when his health deteriorated..  He sold the partial completed kit a few years ago and still has the engine in his hangar.

He has most of the fwf parts for a Highlander, so it would be best if was sold for a Hylander project. I told him I would help him sell the engine because his health has been his primary challenge.

I just wanted to know if anyone has some personal experience flying behind one of these engines or knows of anothers experience. I had never heard of the honda based engine before.

Thanks for the help...Brooks

Engine Options

90 HP Engine: $9,995.00

130 HP Engine: $10,9995.00

180T HP Engine: $16,995.00

It doesn't look like they are building the 110hp anymore.
