Short flaperons, to fly or not to fly?

A friend has bought an Avid “project”... the original speedwings have been extended - but the flaperons are still the short speedwing model.

Is it safe to fly with the short flaperons?  Would it be a problem, a big difference?

They will be OK.  The one I flew had the flaperons moved out on the wing and a tube spliced in at the fuse to lengthen it.  It flew great!

Several of us Zenith Builders did the same thing when lengthening the wings. The ones that flew them both ways said they noticed little to no difference. After talking to a few of the guys I opted to not lengthen my ailerons. I have not flown mine yet but do not anticipate a problem based on others reports.

Question:

How about if the wing and flaperon was same lenght?

Say flaperon stock lenght and mounted stock location, close to fuseloge and the wing was shortened?  is that called a clipped wings?
