Static port

Holy Crap, Batman! Was putting in the static port in the tail (the one I forgot while covering) and thought I was going to have to call 911 to get me out. A 6' person was never meant to crawl back in the tail and attach a static port on the side. Of course the perfect leg cramp hits at the right time. Gives new meaning to the term "squirming like a worm on a hot rock". What do most use as a static port?  I did learn a whole bunch of new words.  According to the build manual it goes pretty close to the handle on a model 2.

None of my Avids or Kitfox that I flew had a static port.  Just a short piece of hose behind the panel.  JImChuk

My manual stated that a static port located on the left side of the fuselage would make the gauges more accurate (yea, right) and one was installed when I got the project. Since I had all the plumbing I figured why not. Flew my challenger for years with it just being open behind the panel.  Never had an issue with it like that. Hindsight, no more static ports in the tail.

Mine is right with the pitot tube out on the wing.

I was landing a Scout that pulled to the right (bent tail wheel spring) and I got a crap in my calf just as the tail hit the ground. I thought I was going to have to turn it over to my friend in back, but I suffered through it though. I hate a damn crap. I drink a lot of OJ and other juices to combat it.

RDA for magnesium is 400 mg/day,  but many of us fall short.  Low Mg correlates to leg cramps.  Magnesium glycinate is the most bioavailable form.  I supplement. Your body's hydration level also plays a role.  fwiw.

Static port on only one side means variation with yaw.

I quit wearing tube socks. The tube socks were leaving an indentation in my leg with swelling above the indentation. Started wearing ankle socks and about two weeks later my legs quit hurting. Guess the tube socks cut off the circulation. Thought my legs hurt because of lower back problems. The legs hurt for over ten years.

Man, Buckchop, that sounds rugged!  I have found some relief with vitamin E, but am probing magnesium to find the best dose for me.  Some literature is panning vitamin E as bad for the heart in the larger doses, like 800 mg.  But hey, we all remember when eggs were "bad" due to all that cholesterol!  Now they understand that everything gets broken way down in our digestive system, and that it was simplistic to think dietary cholesterol equated to serum cholesterol!  Nutritional science is still evolving, and they have an inherent latency problem;  it can take years to see the health effects of a particular diet.

Yesterday in celebrating a minor victory, I had a Pinha colada with wife in the late afternoon on the veranda.  Despite having upped my mg supplement by 240 mg, I still had leg cramps this  morning!  They're saying alcohol is  a no-no since it tends to dehydrate you!  Arrgh!  Apparently nothing is sacred anymore!  My advice is to go online and see what you can learn about leg cramps.  Good luck!

I use lasics water pills, and get crampy sometimes. 250 mg of magnesium works like magic.

Tube socks... If your legs are swelling above the tube socks, it's a circulation problem. I started wearing ankle socks, my legs and feet stopped hurting. Maybe calf socks will work. I understand the work situation, I worked for the state highway dept. On my feet 8 to 10 hours a day on the hot asphalt, wearing steel toe lace up boots.

I'm working on a relief-tube system.  My little Avid seems to require constant attention on the controls, so it had better be simple to use, like just peeing your pants, but not messy or wet.  The big plus is now staying hydrated would be possible, lowering the likelihood of your legs cramping.

An airport acquaintence says he had the distinct pleasure of peeing on all the crazy lefties and antifas in Portland, a thought that resonated with me.  Remember: Chavez, the socialist, was put in power via a free election, a triumph of propaganda over common sense.  Now the Venezuelan people are starving.  This same path is a very real possibility here in the States.  Despite very stiff headwinds, Trump has accomplished much on behalf of people of both parties, and will likely go down in history as the best president since Lincoln.  He is, however, an existential threat to creeping beaurocratic corruption, so must be stopped!  If the Venezuelan "cautionary tale" has a message, it is that Big Daddy will not look out for little you, but will instead abuse you.

As I like to say: Progressivist endgame: equality in misery!

You can always try these:

When I worked in hospital supply they were called 'Texas Catheters'.  I don't know why, but my working hypothesis is they were needed to drive all the way across Texas. :lmao:

I did that once on I-10 - 810 miles from New Mexico to Louisiana.  I didn't have one of these, but wished I did at a couple of points.  A whole lot of nothing, not even a tree to pee behind.

Bonus though was over half of that was at an 80mph speed limit.  I figured in Texas that meant they're weren't no dang speed limit, but the feds made us put one up.

Exactly what I'm contemplating, minus the bag.  I figure I'll connect to a tube running partway down the LG strut, then let the airstream break it up into malenky droplets.  Salty virga, so-to-speak!

But OMG, this means that in some states the cars would be nosing us out!  With the slightest hint of a headwind...

My doctor told me it was a potassium deficiency. He said to eat bananas. OJ has it as well as other juices and I do that instead. Low salt can cause cramps also. I used to walk 10 miles of irrigation pipe each day in 100 degree 90% humidity. I used to take supplements as well as salt pills. Also had a 5 gallon cooler inside the shop refrigerator full of Gatoraid. That really helped me too.

So I guess there can be many causes for cramps.

I like my 4 door truck. You can open the front and rear doors and you almost have a bathroom stall!!! And a jacked up 4X4 is a lot easier to hide behind than my Camaro!!!
