I am almost done, the DPE who has been my instructorsays we just need an instructor to sign off so I can be tested by the DPE who was my Instructor, makes alot of sense doesn't it. The other instructors are out on charter te rest of the week so my DPE just signed me off for unlimited x country until one gets back to sign me off, Rousch Racing has been keeping them a little busy lately for some reason.buttrock.gif

Great job Trackwelder. You'll have a ticket of your own very shortly!

What's the matter at Rousch? Hasn't one-eye bought another plane to crash, yet?

We must have had the same DPE, cause he did the same crap to me! Not just with the PP, but float rating too. Back when I was doing the training and renting his planes, I had to give him a ration of shit for it. I was dumb founded that he had done most of my training, my X country, and I was allowed to take the planes hunting etc, yet he would not just give me the check ride or sign me off... I told him he must have lots of confidence in himself to let me rent his planes, go off airport hunting, landing on the sides of a mountain etc, yet would not sign me off till I was recommended by another instructor. He was a great guy, but too much military time and was BY THE BOOK!

At any rate, congrats on the sign off, now go have fun!

I just hear bits and pieces, but they flew them home after OshCrash and have been doing some flying fo them for other things. They were talking about how the one eye migt mess up his depth perception and flight medical, but I am a Sport Pilot student so I don't know that much. They are building another casino in Northwest Iowa and they were fairly busy with that contract. It is kind of nice haveing the DPEtelling me it is time to take the test though, If he didn't think I was ready we would still be learning, I didn't want fast I wanted good.

MY DPE is a retired Marine, or former sine there are no ex marines. and he is by the book, In the marines he fixed planes and has now broken 32,000 hours thanks to my help, but the book says before he can sign me off for my certificate another instructor has to recommend me for it. I wouldn't want it any other way, either I know how to fly or I am not ready, since I am still building my Avid I will fly his Ercoupe for $75 an hour on his gas and insurance and occaissionally fly it for avionics work for free. The one thing he keeps telling me is that I should forget the Light Sport Planes and just get a 172 He has already pointed out every FAA and Law enforcement plane, if you see one do a touch and go with radio problems and land at a small field,jail_time.gif much safer than this Light Sport stuff according to him.

Mine was a Navy Jet Jock. Great guy, but by the book on most things.

Um, if he has an erocoupe, does that not meet the requirements for a light sport  I would much rather ride my Avid in on an engine out, than take a 172 in for an off airport excursion. Once you get some time in the Avid, you will see that an Avid or KF is about the most fun you can have in the air!

Yes the Ercoupe is a 415C model with the STC for 1320lbs taking it right to the limit, If I was going to places I had to be I might consider the 172 but for now I will rent his Ercoupe with rudders and try and find someone with a taildragger to pick up the endorsement. My only reason for flying is to be crazy enough to keep my sanity. That and I have wanted one since 1984 when I first saw it, They look like the most fun yu can have especially after watching all of the videos, The last couple of lessons have been spent landings right on the numbers if I miss them its go around and do it again I can have the Ercoupe down in 500 feet I know the Avid will break that I need to drop a few trees and I will have my own strip at home.drool3.gif
